So is Punk a face again?

Or would you classify him as a "tweener".

Shadrick 08-17-2011 06:12 AM

I wouldn't classify it at all. Cena kinda put it best on his Twitter, pretty much saying "people cheer for who they want to cheer for; the days for a definite heel/face dynamic are dead"

Punk is just punk. Depending on how you feel determines whether or not he's a face or heel to you.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-17-2011 06:26 AM

While that thing Cena said is somewhat true, he's definitely being booked as a face now.

RiX1024 08-17-2011 09:30 AM

I see him as a tweener IMO. fans love him but he acts heelish.

RiX1024 08-17-2011 09:30 AM

Correction: IWC, anti-Cena, other smarks love him.....

RVDmark 08-17-2011 11:03 AM

To me they are both Faces, unless they are against each other.

Cena is clearly "The Rock" to CM Punk's "Stone Cold", one is the "corporate" babyface being nice to the kids, doing the chat shows etc, the other is the don't give a **** babyface. Unless they face each other they are both face.

The great thing about this angle is that Cena has become a lot less annoying, which could be a problem when the Rock comes back as its sort of all the ammo he had against him. But I'm sure Rock can come up with something.

Either way am loving the story right now and look forward to see where it goes.

He hasn't been heelish since that night in Vegas when he sat at the top of the ramp and shocked the world. He's been playing to the crowd, winning matches cleanly, and wrestling nothing but heels (besides Cena). I'd say he's a full out face, really.

CSL 08-17-2011 01:23 PM

He's absolutely a fully fledged face, classic "anti-authority" face as of right now.

Rock Bottom 08-17-2011 01:27 PM

Cena can babble about whatever he wants. There are faces and there are heels.

Gertner 08-17-2011 01:29 PM

He's a face because "OMGZ He talks like we do!!!!!"

Anybody Thrilla 08-17-2011 01:40 PM

Punk won't be a face in Gertner's eyes until he starts talking about how boring Daniel Bryan is.

Londoner 08-17-2011 02:53 PM

Mostly face, but will have his haters. (cena fans)

Chavo Classic 08-17-2011 03:08 PM

If I was asked to explain the concept of what a 'tweener' is, current Punk would be the perfect example.

Aguakate 08-17-2011 03:59 PM

CM Punk's a face. Not at first, but now, definitely.

Emperor Smeat 08-17-2011 03:59 PM

I'd say tweener similar to Orton pre-draft but moving closer towards being a face now that he's away from having Cena in a feud.

I'd assume the main reason he decided to help Cena attack Del Rio was more of revenge from what Del Rio did to him on the ppv than actually caring about Cena. He even acknowledge what Del Rio did was smart and good unlike Cena who spazzed out for some reason on Monday even though he wasn't affected.

XCaliber 08-17-2011 04:04 PM

He's an anti-face very much like SCSA was back in the Attitude era only better.

Aguakate 08-17-2011 04:07 PM

He's not really an anti-face like Austin was...Punk plays up to the crowd much more, and smiles...

you watch your tongue lol! Stone Cold was the tits!

Anybody Thrilla 08-17-2011 04:18 PM

Debra was the tits. Stone Cold was more of the muscle.

Shadrick 08-17-2011 05:33 PM

Punk plays up to the crowd?

Jura 08-17-2011 05:37 PM

'tween her? I hardly know her.

#1-norm-fan 08-17-2011 05:39 PM

He's definitely a face. There shouldn't even really be a question at this point.

Wishbone 08-17-2011 06:04 PM

Tweener with a tendancy to lean toward face.

#1-norm-fan 08-17-2011 06:38 PM

What is there about him that is heelish? At all.

If you consider him a tweener, there has to be something.

CSL 08-17-2011 06:43 PM

yah, it's not really an opinion thing, he's a face

Innovator 08-17-2011 06:49 PM

He's been working face since MITB.

Jordan 08-17-2011 06:58 PM

He's an Anti-Hero baby face.

Gertner 08-17-2011 07:52 PM

I'm surprised the IWC isn't tweeting him " Um, could you work in the word "workrate" next time on Raw? I'm finding it hard to climax"

...You know...'cause saying the truth makes you a HEEL! If you shoot on something, it makes you a BAD GUY!

Corporate CockSnogger 08-17-2011 08:11 PM

Speaking of "bad guys" I was kind of expecting Punk to mention Hall and Waltman at some point during the confrontation, asking where they are in all of this. Probably will at some point.

...maybe he won't have to ask where they are...

...maybe they'll just show up!

:shifty:

Jura 08-17-2011 08:16 PM

When Nash said the text said "Hey yo...big man...", I was thinking Scott Hall.

Are you even trying any more?

...wouldn't it really be something if it turned out Hall was the one who texted Nash?

LOL

BTW, watch this short video, and look at how Punk expresses himself and how he plays up to the crowd...definitely a face:

Droford 08-17-2011 09:00 PM

Whether hes a face/heel/tweener/doofus, it doesn't matter because they've made him completely irrelevant again with this Kevin Nash feud.

...so...are you saying that...

...Nash > Punk?

CSL 08-17-2011 09:14 PM

irrelevant he says, after one run-in and one promo

Droford 08-17-2011 09:22 PM

Nash basically just stood there and was like "whatever" and called him a Waffle House short order cook..

If Punk beats Nash, big whoop, he beat a 52 year old that hasn't wrestled in almost a year.
If Nash wins, then Punk lost to a 52 year old that hasn't wrestled in almost a year.

Its a fucking no win scenario for Punk. Nash at least is getting paid.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-17-2011 09:23 PM

Yeah, ignore the fact that it's the biggest storyline on Raw right now, taking precedence over the WWE title.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-17-2011 09:24 PM

Hey guys, remember how irrelevant Austin was when he wrestled Vince McMahon? That was a total no-win situation for Stone Cold.
