Todd Grisham leaves WWE for ESPN

Quote:

Todd Grisham is leaving WWE to take a job with ESPN. Grisham finished up with WWE at tonight's NXT taping. Here is what William Regal wrote on Twitter in regards to Grisham's departure:

"I would like to thank @todd_grisham for all his help get me through NXT.Best wishes for your new career at ESPN."
I think it's a shame. I always liked Grisham

screech 08-24-2011 01:09 AM

Was never a huge fan, but good for him.

He waved to me at Night of Champions 09.

Lock Jaw 08-24-2011 01:14 AM

Pair him up with The Coach

Volare 08-24-2011 01:15 AM

Coach and Grish on ESPN? Sweet.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-24-2011 01:16 AM

Coach actually has a pretty decent radio show.

Good for Gresham. Didn't seem like WWE had him in their plans for the immediate future. Hope he does well.

Evil Vito 08-24-2011 01:18 AM

Surprised he didn't mention it tonight. Regardless, he was enjoyable and I look forward to seeing him on ESPN. Hope Josh Matthews heads back to NXT to call the show with Regal.

Riker 08-24-2011 01:19 AM

Wow....I knew the coach was sports to start, then hit the WWE. Grisham just didnt seem the sportcaster type to me.

Amazing though. Reaching ESPN is huge. I love listening to the Coach these days with Freddie Coleman. Its hard to imagine he was wrestling on Raw a few years ago like Cole is now.

Emperor Smeat 08-24-2011 01:33 AM

He does have some recent history with sportscasting because for the past few years he's been either a play-by-play or pre-game announcer for MLS matches on Fox Soccer Channel.

Was sort of shocked the first time I noticed him calling soccer matches while also working with the WWE.

Juan 08-24-2011 01:34 AM

Him and Striker were probably the best announce team for a while during ECW

So in other words I can look forward to Cole on ESPN too in the near future?

ugh

Quoted for truth

I enjoyed Grisham on commentary quite a bit, and I hope he does well with ESPN too.

GD 08-24-2011 02:20 AM

I will always remember him for

"It's time for our Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain Eeeeeeevent!" and

The Grish was very likeable and enjoyable. Good to see him heading on to a bigger field.

Cool King 08-24-2011 08:19 AM

It's a shame to see him go. I always liked Grisham, but it's good that he's leaving to do another really good job.

Innovator 08-24-2011 08:32 AM

Good for Grisham.

Autobahn 08-24-2011 08:41 AM

Its late TPWW...

Come to bed with the Grish

For a guy who watches Glenn Beck, I don't think you have a right to bitch at who is on your screen.

Pardeep 619 08-24-2011 09:36 AM

If Grisham hadn't quit he would have been future endeavored some point soon seeing as he's never on TV. Good luck to him

Battlekat 08-24-2011 09:55 AM

He pretty much got lost in the shuffle. Never really loved or hated the guy, but good for him. He's definitely moving on to bigger and better things.

Rammsteinmad 08-24-2011 10:34 AM

Never really 'liked' him, because he wasn't really much of a character. Just a straight up announcer/interview kinda guy. Still, he did a good enough job, and I had/have no problems with him. Good luck to him I guess.

Kane Knight 08-24-2011 10:35 AM

I notice they didn't say "future endeavours."

HMMMMMMMM...

Triple Naitch 08-24-2011 06:26 PM

I'm happy for him. It was obvious that Grisham wasn't seen in WWE's long-term plans after they pulled him off SmackDown. Hopefully he will do well on SportsCenter.

Theo Dious 08-24-2011 10:30 PM

I wonder if he'll go the Coach road and actually interview Vince at some point, or the Sean Mooney road and pretend he never worked in wrestling.

Skippord 08-25-2011 02:34 AM

can't wait for the uncomfortable first episode when Grisham and Coach are both anchoring SportsCenter

KaosDarksol 08-25-2011 02:48 AM

Haven't watched nxt since it has been off tv so I forgot he was still doing something, so I guess it's good for him

Jura 08-25-2011 12:39 PM

I liked the guy but he's probably better off in a different setting than wrestling. It seems in WWE there are only 4 positions for commentators; the 2 main guys and the 2 guys that may replace them in the future.

this is great

XCaliber 08-25-2011 12:52 PM

He was never one of my favorites but it's probly for the best since he was demoted from SD as a clear result of Vince not being that impressed with him.

Gertner 08-25-2011 02:14 PM

Good for Grisham. Always liked him.

For Grisham good for him. As cutthroat and bruttish as a place ESPN purports itself to be, I'm sure it's smooth sailing compared to working for Vince McMahon.

...Ooook?

You tell the guy to "get fucked", then you comment the exact same thing he did?

Dude, it's the Internet, it's not real!

MoFo 08-28-2011 09:23 PM

lol @ when he ranted at the TNA fan on Byte This.

That is my favourite Todd Grisham moment.

Pintint 08-28-2011 10:04 PM

I am extremely indifferent to these news. Just like I was always to Todd.

Matt Striker is the only young announcer I really like.

Dunno what people see in Josh Matthews.

Juan 08-28-2011 10:15 PM

Josh Matthews is adorable, and the man. Leave him alone

RiX1024 08-29-2011 11:24 AM

I wish him luck.
