Did anyone try the demo yesterday? I played 4 periods against a friend and it felt like the speed and the hitting system were much crisper and faster than in '11. I was just curious if anyone else downloaded it and what your impressions were.

Loved it, till it froze with 5 minutes left. Can't wait to pick it up.

I really like how real the hits feel. The goals, too. The goals that do get through the minder really look like goals that would happen realistically.

Be a Pro also looks pretty fun this year. I like the coaching tasks and all that quite a bit. Never really played Be a Pro in NHL 11.

Didn't play the demo. But I'll still buy it.

I'm not a fan of the series since everything is on the analog sticks now. And typical EA, they include a half assed version of the classic controls as an alternative, just like with the FIFA series. It'd be better if they just let you map the buttons 100%.

Buying the game anyway the whole idea of the goalies having more realism in the sense they can't be hit again and get into fights has me sold.

Got a Goaltender interference penalty. Glad you can actually touch the goalies now instead of running into them and nothing happening. Also happy that you can break glass during hits(probably pucks too but hasn't happened to me in the demo yet) again :D.

I haven't managed to break the glass on hits yet, but I did manage to check someone into the bench, and that made me pretty excited.

I also skated all over Roberto Luongo's neck. It got me two minutes, but it was worth it. Fuck that guy.

didn't the NHL bring in some new Glass(or glass like) recently that rarely if ever breaks?

Over the bench sounds cool, I have ps3 and 360(no longer gold) can I download it on both? if so what would be my best bet?

Glass rarely breaks from hits as it is. And who cares if it doesn't follow real life? If it did the Kansas City Mustangs would have 14 cups in 16 years.

If you don't have the Gold account I think you'll have to wait for the demo. With the PS3, you can get it right now fo free.

It made me excited way back in 94 lol not sure why they took this out and the breaking whole breaking glass isn't really new either.

The most recent version I had played was 2008. It took me some time to feel comfortable with the '12 demo playing on the hardcore settings. I always custom tweak the sliders and feel that if I can tweak the full version of '12, it'll be pretty sweet.

The casual settings in the demo are definately more "pick up and play" friendly. The pass accuracy in hardcore is a bit annoying.

I do think it's time to upgrade from 2008, so I'll be picking up '12. :y:

Reviews are starting to come out and they seem pretty positive.

I'm dying to get my first my first fantasy draft/HUT going. May have to try out Be a Pro too since that's how you unlock legends I believe.

I thought it was with the Be a Legend thing where you try to complete their accomplishments like the 50 goals in 39 games.

Didn't realize that. Either way I'm gonna bust my ass trying to unlock all of them.

New feature to the series is the ability to play as a 14-year old girl in the Be a Pro or career mode and it all started due to EA and the NHL listening to a letter written by a girl.

No Women's leagues or anything else related to women's hockey will be in the game although this wouldn't be the first time a sports game had both male and female players.

Probably going to never create a female player, but it's a cool option.

I'm going to get this game at midnight. I am jazzed. I can finally pick a team other than the Bruins or the Canucks for more than five minutes of play.

Scored a goal and notched an assist in my first preseason game in Be a Legend with Roenick. Also got Gretzky in my free pack in HUT. I just won NHL 12.

Pretty sweet game so far. Had 3 goals and 4 assists with Roenick on the Penguins this morning. It's gonna take quite a while for me to get sick of the single player on this version.

I'm still rocking NHL 2004 on my PS2. I should think about upgrading both console and game.

My best friend have been alternating periods with Roenick. We are currently the league's leading scorer and hitter. We are on pace to get 50 in less than 39 and have a point in every GP.

Don't know how I feel about having to play an entire season in the CHL before being drafted in Be a Pro. Kinda liked the old set up better.
