Better Wrestler All Time Records

#BROKEN Hasney 09-01-2011 09:34 AM

Easy choice.

Ermaximus 09-01-2011 09:34 AM

Supreme once again making an epic final showdown.

El Fangel 09-01-2011 10:12 AM

Ugh. Hate you for this.

But I hold true to my word, No one gets a vote over The Rock.

BizarroKing 09-01-2011 10:25 AM

Well, as crazy as it sounds, I'm choosing Eddie; He was just as entertaining and was able to surprise you once in a while. Plus I honestly thought he would at most get the IC title and some tag gold when he arrived in WWE; Never imagined he would earn the WWE Title which was a nice change to some of the larger athletes.

Wolfpack423 09-01-2011 10:30 AM

I didn't really like Eddie's reign as champion. Sure, he had some good defenses and wins but he was facing Angle and Lesnar in these matches who are significantly better in the ring. The Rock always entertained me more in every way. Some of my favorite title matches involve the Rock and I feel his matches always kept you entertained.

jskinnyg 09-01-2011 10:49 AM

Nicely done Supreme! I have to go for what most believe to be the underdog with Eddie, but I think we might al get surprised here...

St. Jimmy 09-01-2011 11:05 AM

Walk. Take your base, Eddie.

St. Jimmy 09-01-2011 11:06 AM

Rock = Hogan. That being said, Eddie again.

Seth82 09-01-2011 11:30 AM

gotta go with The Rock

he entertained me much more then Eddie

the man was awesome even in his Nation of Domination days

Rock Bottom 09-01-2011 11:41 AM

This is almost as dumb as some of the Christian wins, but fun to watch.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-01-2011 11:44 AM

But not as dumb as Rock Bottom. Oh the depths it would have to sink to for that level.

Rock Bottom 09-01-2011 11:46 AM

I'd rather be dumb than blatantly retarded and weird.

Rock Bottom 09-01-2011 11:46 AM

That's me calling you retarded and weird, by the way.

Rock Bottom 09-01-2011 11:47 AM

Honestly though, I would like you to explain how Eddie Guerrero is even in the Rock's ball park for your chance not to be considered retarded.

You're joking right?

#BROKEN Hasney 09-01-2011 11:53 AM

Because I prefer in-ring action to promos and therefore, my opinion is that since 1996 when I started watching him to the day he died, it's hard to pick out a period of time when he was bad in the ring, or at least not above The Rock's level (not a dig at the Rock, some of the stories he told in the ring were great, just Eddie is in that upper-echelon for me)

I'm sorry that I'm not using a checklist to explain my choice, but if I base it by whose matches gripped me more often, then Eddie would beat one hell of a lot of people. I apologise if my opinion fails to mesh with yours and you find me picking a wrestler over "the great one" "dumb", but I respect your opinion and just wish you wouldn't have to be such a spastic every time the opinions of others aren't overwhelmingly agreeing with you.

Aguakate 09-01-2011 11:57 AM

...The Rock.

Majunior 09-01-2011 12:09 PM

Never liked the Rock. His in-ring skills were at best above average, certainly not spectacular, and his promos bored the hell out of me. They were the same 14 catch phrases strung together with variable linking words.

XCaliber 09-01-2011 12:38 PM

Hardly anyone is better than The Rock and Eddie isn't one of them.

El Tigre 09-01-2011 01:09 PM

I both applaud and boo your choice for this Hall of Fame Round of the B.W. Supreme, for if there was anyone I would consider being better than Eddie, it would be The Rock. Based on his accomplished both in and out of ring as well as his ability to retain his appeal and connection with the masses over the years, one would be justified in seeing Rock as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. That being said, I still voted for Eddie, and here's why:

When I think of the term 'Better Wrestler', I take into consideration not only a contestant's in-ring and mic skills, but their overall abilities as well, and I believe this is where Eddie get's a slight edge. I've watched Eddie's matches from Mexico to Japan (his Black Tiger Vs. Jushin Liger matches are among my favorite), WCW to WWE, and I truly feel he is a better competitor than The Rock. In my opinion, Eddie's moves (both aerial and power), actually excel that of Rock's, who when I take a look at his movelist comes off as pretty general.

I completely understand that many will disagree with this assessment, but I feel it's a reasonable judgement. The Rock had a bigger persona and his mic skills and nearly flawless, but this isn't a better persona poll, it's better wrestler, and that's why I went once again with the Latino Heated Black Tiger.

Shisen Kopf 09-01-2011 01:10 PM

Not to diss Eddie, but, come on...

Rock had great promos, but I never really enjoyed him in the ring. I love Eddie in the ring. Hence why hey gets my vote.

Even so, compare Eddie's career to the Rock's career, wrestling wise. He may have been great on the mic, but the Rock was never that good in the ring. I'd personally never vote for the Rock over Eddie. Then again, there's a LOT of people I wouldn't vote for the Rock over.

Eddie was a better wrestler (in his prime) than Steve Austin...are you saying that if an "Austin vs Eddie" poll came up, you'd vote for Eddie?

In all honesty, can you or anyone name a wrestler who was as good at the end of their careers as they were when they started? This is due to the effects of time in the ring and really shouldn't be used when judging the wrestler.

Shawn Michaels wasn't just "as good", he was BETTER when he retired than when he started.

Probably, because I enjoyed Eddie more. Austin was great in the ring before his neck injury, and his character was on fire early on with the Austin 3:16 spiel as well. After his injury though, Austin got insanely repetitive and boring in the ring. Plus, I got real sick of his gimmick in the end. Outside of his heel run, his gimmick never really changed, or evolved. It was essentially the same thing week in and week out.

So yeah, I probably would. Why? Because I enjoyed Eddie more. It's subjective. It's a subjective poll. People can't vote how they want to.

What Would Kevin Do? 09-01-2011 01:46 PM

Heck, for what it's worth, I'd probably rank Rock higher than Austin, because I got really sick of Austin.

LOL "I'd vote for Eddie over Austin because I enjoyed Eddie more"...

...If Eddie was alive, I have a feeling this poll and all these statements would be different.

You're welcome to believe whatever you want. If you want to think Eddie's death skewed my perception of his wrestling ability, or that it's somehow caused me to bizarrely like the ROck and Austin left, go right ahead. I just don't understand why you find it so hard to believe that people would actually prefer Eddie to Austin and the Rock. Given the choice, I'd watch an Eddie match over a Rock match almost any day of the week. Same thing with Austin. Eddie had better matches.

Heh, I know several people who would agree with your statement, I might even be one of them, but consider the following: Shawn did not go through his career unscathed, both his body and mind have taken their share of bumps and bruises along the way. But he became refined though adaptation over the years, and that's how he was able to remain a top contender as long as he did.

Was Shawn bad at the end of his career? Of course not. He was good, some would say great, but he wasn't better than he was during his peak.

Also, "would my original post be any different if Eddie was alive?" Honestly, his mortality (or lack their of) didn't even come to mind. Dead or alive, I still see him as being better than The Rock.

I just don't understand why you find it so hard to believe that people would actually prefer Eddie to Austin and the Rock. Given the choice, I'd watch an Eddie match over a Rock match almost any day of the week. Same thing with Austin. Eddie had better matches.

A couple polls ago, I went the route you are going down, of actually voting for who I thought was the better actual WRESTLER, the one who had the most ability, and was told that that's NOT what these polls are all about...that you have to take into account the actual ability, but also the impact each guy had on wrestling, their charisma, their mic work, etc...

"If wrestling ability was the only thing that mattered, Dean Malenko would be in the HOF", I was told...

...so I get you...

Still...ROCK > Eddie.

This post is pretty spastic. I only act as stupid as the people who try to ride my ass on here do.

Then you've accidentally aimed much lower, my friend. Especially considering you always fire the first shots then try and play the victim. Always an applaudable move http://tpwwforums.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

It is not my opinion that Rock is better than Eddie Guerrero, it is fact.

Good match that second vid, could watch Eddie wrestle all day.

Just not sure why you always seem to be personally offended when someone disagrees with you. Are there deeper issues at play?
