Best Radiohead Album

THE ETERNAL DEBATE

Requiem 09-01-2011 07:14 PM

My favorite is In Rainbows. Just love the sound/style.

FakeLaser 09-01-2011 07:17 PM

I will say Kid A, which I feel is their best and most important album. As I have said before, it basically changed the landscape of music in the following decade and is impossibly beautiful.

I RANK THEM AS FOLLOWS

1) Kid A - For the reasons above

2) In Rainbows - Really, right behind Kid A for me. Maybe their most polished and "cohesive" work which encompasses everything the band has ever done. Also, probably the best B-sides. I feel like they did what they really wanted to do with Hail to the Thief with this album.

3) OK Computer - Right there with the other two, and an undisputed "rock classic." THIS is the album that solidified Radiohead as one of the all-time greats.

4) Amnesiac - Kinda underrated because people feel like it's "songs that weren't good enough for Kid A" when that isn't the case. Similar feel, though.

5) Hail to the Thief - Also underrated. Has a bunch of strong tracks and brought the electro-experimentalism of Kid A together with the more straight forward rock heard on OK Computer. Thom has said they rushed the recording, which he regrets as he would have liked to have spent more time on each song. Kinda wish they did. However, I feel like the pressure they had to get the record out from the label resulted in In Rainbows being self-released and the innovative distribution model which followed.

6) The King of Limbs - It's good. It's just not as good as the above.

7) The Bends - I do like The Bends but it's more straightforward than anything that followed, however it was the album that showed the world that Radiohead were going to be a "force to be reckoned with" or whatever. It's fantastic, but it's more of an atypical guitar driven record which offered a glimpse into their brilliance, but didn't fully recognize it.

8) Pablo Honey - You gotta start somewhere. It's really not that bad. It's just kind of a generic 90s alt-rock album. Still, Anyone Can Play Guitar <3

I don't know if we'll ever see another proper "album" again, or if they'll just drop singles.

Buzzkill 09-01-2011 07:30 PM

In terms of importance and all that, def Kid A, but I don't think it's aged as well as OK Computer. I don't find myself listening to it all that often. I think overall I enjoy In Rainbows the most, but I <3 all of them.

Buzzkill 09-01-2011 07:33 PM

SO IN FULL:

In Rainbows
OK Computer
Amnesiac
Kid A
Hail to the Thief
The Bends
Pablo Honey (never even listened to it really)

FakeLaser 09-01-2011 07:34 PM

I probably listen to In Rainbows the most at this point, as well.

You don't think Kid A has aged well? I feel like it could have easily come out this year and wouldn't sound out of place at all. OK Computer, on the other hand, I feel sounds a bit more dated. Though that could just be because there doesn't seem to be as many "guitar driven" records anymore.

FakeLaser 09-01-2011 07:34 PM

Damn, Amnesiac over Kid A? Kinda surprised by that.

Buzzkill 09-01-2011 07:39 PM

My list changes all the time. I am currently in an Amnesiac phase (again for the 3rd time) so I am really into it. I recognize Kid A as the better album, but I'm ranking purely based on my eagerness to listen as of Sept 1, 2011

FakeLaser 09-01-2011 07:40 PM

I can respect that.

Miotch 09-02-2011 12:12 PM

Baby's got the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-02-2011 12:24 PM

I only have OK Computer and Kid A, and I'll go with OK Computer.

The Destroyer 09-04-2011 02:10 PM

I'm most partial to The Bends, I think. Although Kid A is pretty good too.

GD 09-06-2011 10:42 PM

Kid A made me fall in love their music. In Rainbows is my second favorite.

St. Jimmy 09-06-2011 10:46 PM

I don't like Radiohead.

OK Computer and Kid A are the best and my favorite Radiohead albums, the ones I'd listen to by 'default' if I was in a Radiohead mood.

I don't get it. Doesn't get more American than Taco Bell tacos.

Shisen Kopf 09-07-2011 12:14 AM

Way to go off topic guys. Best Radiohead album is the Ok Computer then Kid A slightly behind it. Let Down is the most bitching song and Electioneering is pretty gnarly too.

Requiem 09-07-2011 01:10 AM

idk if anyone else here listens to him, but i would absolutely LOVE more than anything else, to hear a collaboration between ronald jenkees and radiohead. i know they are not really 'alike', even though they sort of are, but they could mesh together for some of the most eargasmic music to ever grace my noise holes.

FakeLaser 09-08-2011 12:16 AM

Still waiting anxiously for

Thom Yorke/MF Doom rumored collaboration
Atoms For Peace album
Thom Yorke/Flying Lotus rumored collabo (album)

Kapoutman 09-08-2011 12:52 AM

OK Computer
The Bends
In Rainbows
Hail to the Thief
Kid A
Amnesiac
Pablo Honey
The King of Limbs

I prefer guitar Radiohead to crazy Thom Yorke dancing in a back alley Radiohead. :(

Boomer 09-08-2011 01:19 AM

Sometimes I consider voting In Rainbows over OKC, but I can't do it. I do think it has surpassed Kid A for me at this present moment. I guess this is my list? I dunno, still seems wrong.

OK Computer
In Rainbows
Kid A
The Bends
The King of Limbs
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief
Pablo Honey

After HttT came out, I literally rated every single song off one of their albums from first to last. I wish I had that list to laugh at now.

Boomer 09-08-2011 01:20 AM

And The King of Limbs is probably not staying there in a few months or something. I've barely listened to it recently. Probably more than most people though.

Mooияakeя™ 09-10-2011 01:01 PM

Never really like them tbh, but OK Computer had some songs I liked, more so than Kid A. So that.

I really want to like The King of Limbs more.

GD 09-10-2011 05:31 PM

Do you have the newspaper format?

FakeLaser 09-10-2011 05:38 PM

Yeah of course

OssMan 09-10-2011 05:40 PM

My brother used to play Radiohead all the time and it drove me insane. I grew up hating them.

But recently I have been listening to them, and enjoying it a lot.

That track was supposed to be on OK Computer but Thom cut it. Ed O'Brien was upset, it was his favorite Radiohead track. They released it as part of the In Rainbows B-sides.

GD 09-10-2011 06:00 PM

Why is Thom Yorke so cold?
