Wrestlers who are marks for themselves
Let's list and discuss the wrestlers who come off as huge marks for themselves and come off like they believe their own hype.
I'll start off with the obvious and say Matt Hardy. |
RVD
|
jeff hardy?
/next obvious post |
Hulk Hogan.
|
I mean, jeez, wasn't he saying crap about hitting the Big Boot and Legdropping some of the UK rioters recently?
|
|
Kurt Angle has to be on the list. But if he's not in the top 5 he'd rather not be on it all.
|
The Miz
|
Vince Russo

Pretty much every wrestler ever
|
What CSL said.
Having worked with and seen first hand, just about every guy is a mark for his own shit. |
not rly a wrestler I know but Cole.
|
Ultimate Warrior. Guy is still bitter about shit more than ten years later.
|
All of them

I think Warrior is one of those guys who regards himself as this supreme alpha male and the shit he spews is more or less based out of that than any kind of bitterness. |
This question is easy:
Jeff Jarrett---No one with less talent thinks more highly of themselves then him except for maybe: Chris Jericho--Without a doubt the most overrated of all time and he belives his own hype which is worse. |
Bret Hart
Goldberg Bruno Sammartino |
Definitely Bret Hart. He took his character far too seriously and actually seemed to forget that sometimes wrestlers turn heel.

Pretty much all wrestlers, ever. There probably isn't a guy on the roster than thinks he is being "used correctly" or in "the right spot". As much as I love him, Punk comes across like "a mark for himself".
|
Ric Flair
|
Other than saying everybody I'm going to give my opinion.
Bret Hart - I love the guy, one of my favourite of all time. But at times he does act like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Hulk Hogan - The biggest name ever who should've hung them up a good ten years ago. He still walks around pretending Hulkamania still exists. He is destroying himself with TNA. Ric Flair - Fantasitc on the mic, good in the ring, but acts like a teenager. He still thinks he's the best in the world. Ultimate Warrior - The guy is crazy. If he made a return now I don't think the majority of the audience would have a clue who he is. He was big for such a small window of time. Jeff Jarrett - Fucking awful on the mic and not much better in the ring. Books a promotion around himself, come on. |
TNA hasn't been "booked around" Jarrett since about 2005.
|
Also, I cringe everytime I see sometime say that Flair is (still) great on the mic.
|
Flair will be a riot until the day he dies, I never want him off TV.
|
CM Punk
and Shawn Michaels |

Sebastion Cruz

Kevin Nash - only guy to actually come out with a chart showing his drawing power in comparison to other wrestlers :shifty:
Sin Cara |
Kurt Angle-what a sanctimonious prick.

The Kliq every damn one of em.

Assuming the reports were true, Sin Cara managed to piss off a lot of people in the lockeroom by boasting about all the things he could do from what was being hyped about him even if some of the stories sounded fake or embellished.
|
Also, Eric Bischoff.
|
Larry Zybyszko
|
Good thread, but I can't find many that haven't already been listed. I think if I had to pick the biggest mark for themself, it would be the Ultimate Warrior by leaps and bounds.
