When did the fans turn on John Cena?

Yeah. When?

Earliest I remember, is during his feud with Kurt Angle. The one where Kurt said that the fans would cheer for him no matter what he said.

Up until that point, it seemed like the fans were firmly behind Cena all the time.

Yeah, as soon as he was moved to Raw and started feuding with Kurt Angle.

Shisen Kopf 09-18-2011 11:47 PM

Smackdown was the wigger/Hispanic show and raw aint so they booed him

Juan 09-18-2011 11:52 PM

Yeah, that's why.

Lock Jaw 09-18-2011 11:52 PM

When he first came to RAW, though, they didn't boo him. I think. Like when he was facing Jericho/Christian.

At least Shisen Kopf gives POWER to WWE's Hispanic fans...according to him, they set the standard as to who will be cheered or booed.

So, they booed John Cena first, the American fans took notice, and to this day, he still gets booed. That's what's up.

Summerslam 05 w/Jericho came to mind

I dont know, it doesnt sound like the fans were too against him (plus, he was still kinda funny/ witty then) The first time I can really remember pure fan hate was at One Night Stand 06 "throw it back" moment

The Summerslam match with Jericho turned the tide.

SuperSlim 09-19-2011 05:01 PM

SummerSlam against Jericho was when the tide really started turning. That's when you started having the high pitched Cena chants against the manly chants of the opponent. After that it was all downhill for Cena cept for some moments when he got the fans on his side but that was just the main starting point.

Juan 09-19-2011 05:36 PM

I didn't mean the MINUTE Cena showed up on Raw he got boo'd, I meant moving to Raw was the beginning of the end, so to speak.

He definitely got boo'd in his feuds with Jericho, Angle and Edge before this PPV.

drmayberry7 09-19-2011 05:57 PM

for me it was when he beat shawn micheals at Wrestlemania

James Steele 09-19-2011 08:06 PM

Spot on with Jericho/SummerSlam 05. WrestleMania 22 was where the anti-Cena sentiment couldn't be ignored anymore.

Vastardikai 09-20-2011 03:19 AM

They probably should have seen it coming at least with the Angle part.

I mean, before feuding with Cena, he was feuding with Eugene. And the fans were willing to boo a Retard instead of Angle. Think about that for a moment.

The fans would cheer for Angle no matter what he did.

Makes me sad how good Christian was in that Cena feud, now he resorts to shitty cheap heat like dissing the local NFL team....

Funky Fly 09-20-2011 03:24 PM

It's probably around the time that he stopped writing his own material and started little bags of peanuts at people, telling them to choke on these nuts. It was the progression from thugged out rapper who doesn't give a fuck to Vanilla Ice on roids to the eventual Hulk Hogan 2.0 we have now.
