Wireless headsets.....
Is there any reason why WWE doesn't have their announcers use a wireless headset to call matches? Am I the only one who's tired of the noise of COle & Lawler dropping their headsets whenever the brawl heads near them? I can understand that this might have been difficult in the past, but it's almost 2012..... I'm pretty sure the technology exists...... your thoughts?

I'd assume, like the monitors, it's apart of the presentation and they're there for a prop.
|
My #1 guess is those headsets aren't just one way given all the talk about how Vince and Co. feed them stuff from the back..
I would guess they could wear the earpiece like the refs do but then it would be more blatantly obvious then it already is. |
Because wireless can be crap. Better to hardwire it so that you're sure that you will always have a signal that won't get lost or distorted in the ways that wireless can.
|
Have to agree with Lock Jaw. Can't take the chance of having a lost signal on live TV, and especially PPV.
|
Cole wearing a bluetooth headset would fit his character even more though
|
Do they use wireless or wired on sports telecasts?
|
Wired 'sells' things more too. When people brawl by the tables or someone gets put through it, saying 'we've lost Cole at the moment' or having all three announcers take off their headsets to get the fuck out of the way sells the moment.
If they just get up and walk away whilst continuing to talk, it doesn't have such a sense of urgency that they have to 'get the fuck out of the way'. |
Yeah, wireless mics are the only thing that are worth going wireless with. The headsets would surely cause problems if they went wireless. Plus they require batteries and 'on' switches...in my experience, even the most talented performers don't understand the concept of those.
|
I could not possibly care less what headsets the commentators use. And yes, you are the only person on the face of the Earth that is tired of hearing the headsets being dropped.
|
Nah, for every one person who complains that means at least 10,000 others have the same complaint.

wireless would be easier to tap into by someone and posted online, so we'd have another incident like that nxt episode a while back with the director's audio
|
How the fuck would you expect them to choke the guy with a WIRELESS headset....it removes a weapon from ringside.

Why dont they have HD monitors instead of standard definition.
Fucken scrooge Vince. |
Because they don't actually watch what's going on in the ring most of the time, they just watch the monitors so they don't spoil something the fans haven't seen. And since they still broadcast on SD, it makes sense to use SD monitors for them.

Hmmm. I'll have to look more closely. It's hard to spot them these days since the production team does such a good job of keeping camera men out of the shots.
|
Would love someone to "tap" Vinces Feed if it were wireless. Just to hear him screaming.
|
I wonder if he ever yells at Booker to "shut the fuck up."

You can actually buy these, although without the mic http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg And then there's the Adidas version http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Adi...7611897&sr=1-1 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg And yes, they sound much better than the poop called Beats |

Would be sort of amazing if they were wireless and during a match a wrestler takes the headset to talk trash while beating up his opponent during the entire match in a bigger way than The Rock who did it once but just near the announcer table.
I'd assume like others have said, its more to keep the signal constant and prevent any possible lag/skipping or interference from other devices. Probably the same reason why they still have cables for most of their cameras to prevent loss of a signal from the cameras. |
