Favorite Hell in a Cell Match?

The Hell in a Cell match was first introduced at WWF Badd Blood on October 5, 1997. Out of the 23 Hell in a Cell matches, which was your favorite?

I actually consider this one a fave of mine. These guys were at the top of the game in their careers and the spot with Rikishi/Taker was a mark out moment for me.

In all honesty, I've never had the chance to watch the first one between Taker/HBK. To this day, I've only seen a few highlights of it and when Kane made his debut, but not the match as a whole. IDK, I guess I just never took the time to watch it on Youtube or something.

I was gonna do this as a Best & Worst after the PPV :nono:

The ones that automatically stand out is the first one with HBK-Taker with Kane involved and of course, the Hell in a Cell with the Undertaker obliterating Mick Foley.

But the matches I enjoyed more were the one-on-one matches with the strong build up and the solid back and forth action between Lesnar-Undertaker, Batista-Triple H & Batista-Undertaker.

Mr. Pierre 09-27-2011 05:36 AM

Taker vs. HBK. The cat/mouse story that they told was perfect, with some really insane spots (press slam on the top of the cell, HBK falling through the table). Also, the "chairshot" story dating back to Summerslam was capped off with a brutal one on a bloody HBK. And then the debut of Kane, which was built up for months. Definitely a classic :y:

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.

Taker VS HBK, loved this match and the whole build up to it was great.

You can still do it.

Nicky Fives 09-27-2011 07:47 AM

Badd Blood 1997, followed by HHH/Cactus at NWO 2000

Jari 09-27-2011 07:49 AM

Undertaker vs HBK - none of the others come, even remotely, close to how good that match was.

Kennel Match is the worst, easy

so just get the consensus about the best on here and save time

As much as I respect the classic first HIAC between HBK and Undertaker, my favorite is definitely Cactus Jack vs Triple H. It was an extremely intense encounter and I was completely emotionally invested in the match since Cactus/Foley was my favorite wrestler at the time and I wanted nothing more than to see him win the WWF Championship and ride the "free ticket" to WrestleMania 2000.

I still think that they should have gone with Cactus winning the belt and Rock beating Big show at NWO. Then at Mania they could have done Foley vs Triple H vs The Rock for the WWF Title, and put Big Show up against Shane McMahon in a No Holds Barred match. Fuck the "a McMahon in every corner" fatal fourway match, which ended up being kind of shit.

Undertaker vs HBK at Badd Blood 1997. Like most things in life, there may be many sequels, but NOTHING like the original.

Foley/taker followed by the original and then cactus and the game

Definitely Taker/Mankind. It's not the "best" but it's by far the most memorable, possibly the 2 most famous bumps in wrestling history, some of the most famous/memorable calls in wrestling history, just one of the most famous things in the history of pro wrestling, I doubt I'll ever see anything else that makes me slack jawed/"I can't believe that just happened" as that match.

Undertaker vs. HBK

BigCrippyZ 09-27-2011 03:27 PM

#1 HBK vs Taker

VERY CLOSE #2 Cactus Jack vs HHH

#3 Six man HIAC from Armageddon 2000

Mister Sinister 09-27-2011 03:37 PM

My 5 Favorites
HHH/Foley
HBK/Taker
Taker/Foley
Lesnar/Taker
Jericho/HHH

Emperor Smeat 09-27-2011 03:46 PM

Undertaker vs Mankind.

Popular enough that some of the spots were repeated in later cell matches such as Mankind falling through the cage onto the mat.

The overall tone of that match made the cell get associated as the most dangerous match the WWE could produce as a tag line to sell the match or ppv.

James Steele 09-27-2011 04:36 PM

Cactus/HHH
HBK/HHH
Batista/HHH
Taker/Edge (minus the corny ending)

You have to say that the best one is Michael/Taker at Badd Blood 1997 but I always have a special place in my heart for Brock/Taker that one was so brutal and it really felt like those guys wanted to destroy eachother.

yep this match officially made me a Foley fan

couldn't believe he did those insane bumps

Theo Dious 09-27-2011 09:43 PM

The 6-man will always be my favorite. I kind of consider this a prototype elimination chamber really. Taker/Brock is second, and in my mind is the pinnacle of how a 1-on-1 HIAC should go down.

1.0 blade job and IMO was the match that put Lesnar over the top. Plus it gets bonus points for Heymans interactions with Taker.

Testicle 09-27-2011 10:43 PM

And it had an awesome build. And the girl they had as Takers ex was fucking gorgeous, OMG she had huge cans. Fuck.

That was Taker's actual wife, Sir.

Testicle 09-27-2011 11:05 PM

Really? Good for him...

Shisen Kopf 09-28-2011 12:28 AM

Undertaker vs Big Bossman. Wow that's an awesome match. totally!

Mr. Pierre 09-28-2011 01:09 AM

Not Sara, the other girl that Heyman brought in.

Mr. Nerfect 09-28-2011 06:50 AM

The story in HBK/Taker was classic, and it definitely deserves a place in an individual match Hall of Fame, if there ever was one. But Taker/Mankind is also a classic, and definitely sticks out in the mind. I just can't believe how much punishment Foley took in that one. But Triple H/Cactus and the Armageddon ones were both great and fun (in the later's case), respectively.

I remember the Lesnar/Undertaker one being awesome, too. Beyond Edge/Taker, though, I can't think of a modern one that really deserved the status of the match. I really think the WWE should put it on hold until two guys hate each other enough to warrant it.
