Who the hell was it? They may even have used pyro.
Georgeous George
Did he have pyro?
No.
If he did, he woulda been the greatest of all time. Georgeous George is the dude Ric Flair stole his gimmick from right?
No, it was Buddy Rogers that Flair ripped off.
That's right. Georgeous George was the guy acting guy right?
Yeah. Gorgeous George originated the glamour boy style.
Wasn't it Michael PS Hayes?

Pretty much anyone with a flamboyant persona owes a debt to Gorgeous George. He used Pomp and Circumstance (same theme Randy Savage used).
I don't think it became widespread to use entrance music until the Freebirds started doing so years later though. Then it really caught on. Even in WWE, I still remember contracted 'name' guys without entrance themes as late as 1995 (when Backlund finally succumbed and got some entrance music).

Gorgeous George.
Actually, Macho Man himself stole Gorgeous George's theme music, "Pomp and Circumstance". |
