new commentator

Several wrestling - wait, can we say wrestling here? lol - news sites are reporting that the WWE has been doing more announcer tryouts lately, and that apparently they're looking at a former Superstar to bring in for commentary.

So, which former WWE Superstar do you guys think would make a good commentator? Do you think we might finally be seeing the return of The Duke of Dorchester?!? :shifty:

(Okay, that was an old school reference. I realize most of you here won't get it.)

Corporate CockSnogger 11-26-2011 10:29 AM

If it's for one of the main brands then just bump Regal up. Or maybe Nash after this storyline with Triple H has panned out.

Jordan 11-26-2011 11:29 AM

Regal, love English commentators like Hayes and McGuiness.

RiX1024 11-26-2011 11:30 AM

Duke of Dorchester sounded really scary and pervy on commentary but good. I'd stick Regal as a permanent colour commentator. Can't see Nash as a commentator. Abraham Washington as a commentator would be good.

xbdj74x 11-26-2011 11:32 AM

here comes funaki smackdowns number one announcer hell yeah!!!!, but really Nash would be bad ass

RiX1024 11-26-2011 11:35 AM

Great Khali for comedy purposes.

Rhaps 11-26-2011 11:59 AM

It'll be Foley. I'm sure I read a comment from him somewhere saying that having Vince yelling in your ear is at least marginally better than working for TNA..though I probably imagined that.

I hear BG James is back with the 'E in some form though, he might work.

Theo Dious 11-26-2011 12:09 PM

The time is long past for the return of Johnny Polo.

jskinnyg 11-26-2011 12:17 PM

Jericho when his wrastlin' days are up, would make the ultimate commentator!

Droford 11-26-2011 12:41 PM

CM Punk should be wired (Wireless though so..hmm) so he can call his own matches

MoFo 11-26-2011 12:42 PM

This.

Gertner 11-26-2011 02:04 PM

Kevin Fucking Nash!!!!!

Aguakate 11-26-2011 02:06 PM

Scott Hall!

That way he can keep his mind busy and stay sober.

Kevin and Triple H and Vince will keep an eye on him.

...or maybe not.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-26-2011 02:31 PM

Foley sucked as an announcer for Smackdown. I agree with Jericho being the best man for the job if he wants it.

mike adamle 11-26-2011 03:16 PM

I'm sure anyone can do a better job than Booker T

Corporate CockSnogger 11-26-2011 03:19 PM

Booker is amazing

This is a brilliant plan if by "keep an eye on him" you mean "lock him in a box when he's not doing his commentary job."

The irony here is potentially lethal.

If this actually works, let's do it to Matt as well.

Matt Hardy and Scott Hall, your SmackDown! announce team.

While he is taking some time off to heal his injuries, Christian in the commentary booth would be pretty amazing. Especially since he'd be a legitimate heel color commentator, which is something that I miss. The idea of Josh Mathews sitting between Cole and Christian is potentially hilarious.

The WWE has William Regal and Matt Striker, though. Both of those guys are pretty great commentators. Regal could use more practice, but he could handle being thrown into the deep end. I like his softer approach to commentary.

JBL is one of the best commentators I have ever heard, though. If he wants a commentary job, give it to him.

Also, CM Punk should do RAW Superstars commentary, I've decided. More people would watch the show to hear CM Punk be awesome, and it'd fit his recent "agent of change" thing. Scott "Steve" Stanford and CM Punk as your RAW Superstars team, and Josh Mathews can replace Jack Korpela on SmackDown!'s side with Striker, while Korpela can keep working on NXT and maybe even FCW (alternating with Matt Martlaro).

Rock Bottom 11-26-2011 09:54 PM

Keep Striker away from a booth

Lock Jaw 11-26-2011 10:05 PM

I like Striker at the booth. When he isn't making huge terrible mistakes.

Mr. Nerfect 11-26-2011 10:43 PM

That was one mistake. JR, King and even Cole make them all the time. Also, Striker could have played it up as Cena choosing to be free of himself of the Nexus honourably. I honestly think this is where the Nexus angle sort of faltered. I really think that Cena should have snapped on Barrett, and destroyed him as Nexus watches from the back powerless (I think they were banned from ringside?). Cena then counts the three, and rips off the Nexus arm-band as Nexus hit the ring (now that the match is over), and the Nexus beat-down Cena, who is saved by Orton. The babyfaces clear the ring and Cena and Orton have a moment where they regard each other. Cena hands Orton the WWE Title and then goes to leave Orton in the ring to enjoy his moment as champion. Orton calls Cena back into the ring and tells him "This is your moment," and leaves Cena to say goodbye to the crowd.

On RAW, we have "Cena's Farewell," and Wade Barrett of course crashes that. He says that he and Cena could have dominated the entire WWE together, and made Nexus the greatest force in WWE history. Cena says he couldn't do it, and he'd rather be in a little indy company in Florida than betray his credo. Cena could shoot on what the WWE Title means to him, and that it'd mean nothing if he helped Barrett win it the way he wanted to. Barrett could then counter-fire on Cena by saying that he's a phony, and he gave his word to join Nexus if Barrett beat him, which he did, and now Cena's not playing ball. Cena says he's willing to reap the consequences, and begs Barrett to fire him. Wade has a moment of inspiration and says that is what Cena wants him to do. If Barrett fires Cena, he's free. By costing him the WWE Title, Cena made a personal enemy out of Barrett, and not just one on principle. He's going to allow Cena to remain in the WWE -- but he wants Cena to know that is because of him. Every paycheck he gets is on Barrett's allowance; every time he comes out here and he hears children chanting his name -- it is because of Wade Barrett. But he's also keeping Cena around because now he really wants to beat Cena to a pulp. Barrett challenges Cena to a match at TLC, and he wants it to have no disqualifications, so he can hurt Cena to the extent he wants to.

Cena then gets a little smirk on his face and says "You firing me is not what I wanted, Wade. I'd have taken it, but what I wanted is what you just asked for!" Cue Cena running up the ramp and starting a brawl with Barrett, until Nexus come out and beat-down Cena. The Anonymous General Manager chimes in and says that Cena can choose the stipulation for the match, so he can choose to counter-act Nexus interference.

Sorry, just a little tangent there. Also, Wade Barrett would be a damn good commentator, too...

Skippord 11-26-2011 10:55 PM

Regal, DDP or Bradshaw would be good

ideally Regal though
