Cody Rhodes

...is impressing the shit out of me. How many times has he been given a character change and had mastered that character. Give this guy a world title run.

Shisen Kopf 11-28-2011 07:29 AM

He has knee pads now. Much better. He should be the supreme champion of pro rasslin. Knee pads are serious business.

He won't become champion with Mizark holding the belt.....He needs DB to cah in MITB....

I agree, Rhodes isn't gonna be the one to knock off Henry. Unless one turns face, which is not a good idea. I could see a returning kane cost Henry the belt to sheamus and then Rhodes challenging for it. Sheamus and Rhodes are both on a roll right now, and could make a pretty entertaining feud. Orton would be another option but he is busy with barrets garage thing

Yes

I'm liking his slow build, really. From the second generation rookie with Hardcore Holly to getting the rub with Legacy. Then starting out on his own, going from dashing to undashing, he's made it all work. And he's improved, both in the ring and on the mic.

Cody should continue his ascension to the top over the next few years. He could be a legit player in one of the Mania 30 main events. There's still plenty for him as he moves up, finds his groove and continues to let WWE take notice. Mania 30, honestly, could be Dolph Ziggler vs. Cody Rhodes, and if the next few years play out well, it could be really awesome.

Seriously, he and Dolph Ziggler are two guys I think are on the cusp of being properly made, and will be the ones to be at the top of the next generation along with Punk.

On a side note, Legacy succumbed to the Rockers effect. Everyone thought Ted was going to be the one to break out and make a name for himself, but right now, Cody's the one who has a clear future in the company long-term while Ted flounders on Superstars and tries to get himself noticed by holding tailgating parties.

This.

I didn't really see what all the hub bub was about when a few of you were clamoring over him after Legacy broke up and until recently, I was indifferent. I wasn't a big fan of Dashing Cody Rhodes or this protective mask gimmick, maybe if it was a different mask but I guess he didn't want it to come off superhero-ish but I like his character now. His mannerism and facial expressions are starting to become similar to his brother's. His moveset is good too.

DLVH84 11-28-2011 11:45 AM

Like Dolph Ziggler, he's very consistent in the ring.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-28-2011 12:47 PM

His physique is also much better. He looks like he's been working hard, but he also looks natural. He also carries himself like a champion and a big time player.

XCaliber 11-28-2011 12:51 PM

I'd rather they give him a WWE title run so he can scrap that belt too for something else besides I want Barrett to be the next heel WHC after whoever beats Henry.

Emperor Smeat 11-28-2011 01:05 PM

The move to Smackdown helped him a lot especially in having months to slowly develop the "Dashing" gimmick instead of rushing it like what probably would have occurred on RAW.

It also helps Smackdown isn't clogged up in the main event and IC/US range like on RAW so he didn't get lost in the shuffle which would have hurt his momentum he was gaining from the "Dashing" gimmick.

Is he still "Dashing" or they got rid of it once he got the knee pads?

Jura 11-28-2011 01:40 PM

He was Dashing Cody Rhodes and then the Phantom of the Opera/Masked Cody Rhodes and now he's like a combination of both with a bit of Golddust sprinkled in.

I wouldn't say I was a fan of the Dashing gimmick. It was a bit ridiculous and almost came off as a comedy character. But there were sparks of awesomeness in him that I saw. And that gimmick laid the groundwork for the evolution of what he is today, and what he's still to become. In hindsight, the Dashing gimmick was the best thing that could have happened to him. I did love the Undashing gimmick, though. The mask was perfect at first but it started to get long in the tooth and I'm glad they pulled the plug on it.

He is making a fantastic run for sho...

RiX1024 11-28-2011 02:16 PM

I'm looking forward for what's in store for Rhodes in the future.

Rhodes? Where we're going, we don't need Rhodes...

....Sorry, just always wanted to say that.:shifty:

Set this in the flying DeLorean with Cody and Goldust. Closeup of Cody and Goldy looking disapprovingly at each other. Cut to a long shot of the DeLorean with Dusty being thrown out.

And... scene.

I'd like to think that the Dashing gimmick was never anything but a setup to the mask. And they yanked the mask at exactly the right time (though it may have had more longevity without Cole constantly screaming about it being medically necessary. Christ. Every time I think about it I imagine Bobby Heenan in his very understated, comically certain tone, "hey, that mask is a medical appliance. A doctor told him he has to wear it. Trust me, I wouldn't lie to you." Then my head ends up full of Cole's histrionic seventh-grader voice. UGH.)

Anyways, I am SO excited to see where Cody and the classic IC strap go next. I would seriously love to see a Rhodes/Barrett feud at some point. Fuck turning either of them face.

That goes against all logic in the 'E'. Somebody has to be the face. :shifty:
