Steam Holiday Gift Pile!

I got Counter Strike source :D
What did you get?

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 06:43 AM

Orcs Must Die!!!!!!
Portal 2
Metro 2033
Bunch of Heroes

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 07:02 AM

Jesus, up to 320 games.

Kane Knight 12-20-2011 08:47 AM

Bunch of Heroes. only thing in the bunch I gave a shit about.

Jesus, up to 20 games!

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 08:56 AM

Might have to give Old Republic a rest with the gift pile going on as well. Earn selected achievements and get a free game/coupon or coal. With coal, you can either get an entry into the prize draw (grand prize is every game on Steam) or use 8 lumps to make a gift and all the gifts are tradeable.

Xero 12-20-2011 09:30 AM

Been on a big Indy kick of late. Just got Block that Matter so far, but I'm sure I'll be getting more. Also got the Humble Indy Bundle the other day.

Jura 12-20-2011 09:51 AM

I've been eyeing Bunch of Heroes yesterday. How is it so far?

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 09:58 AM

No idea, heard good things and impulse bought at that price so I'm not sure yet.

Jura 12-20-2011 09:59 AM

I've just watched a video of it. It's only $2.49 so what the hell.

Saints Row The Third is on sale until January 2nd.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 10:03 AM

Almost everything is on sale on these sales. The trick is to check the daily deals and don't buy outside the daily deals until the last day of the same as they may be on one of them and have even more savings.

2.50 + solid reviews (well, solid feedback) are the reasons I bought it.

I'd be able to say more, but I'm hooked on Dungeon Defenders.

Extreme Angle 12-20-2011 11:24 AM

I just bought Bunch of Heroes...
What I meant by 'get', is what gifts.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-20-2011 01:24 PM

Purchased:

Half Life 2 Episode 1 & 2
Red Orchestra 2
Duke Nukem Forever (What? £3.74...)
Costume Quest

Doing gift cheevos over the weekend more than likely.

Extreme Angle 12-20-2011 01:24 PM

Geez... Getting past wave 20 was nuts... managed to get 800k or something and got our team the achievement.

Boomer 12-20-2011 03:35 PM

Dungeons of Dredmor is so worth a little more than a dollar. One of my favorite games of the year.

Wazzat?

Extreme Angle 12-20-2011 04:13 PM

2 fucking lumps of coal...

Boomer 12-20-2011 04:15 PM

DoD is a Rogue-like; it's a dungeon-crawl where (by default) death is permanent. The farther down you get in the dungeon, the more ridiculous things get, and the game basically leaves it up to you to figure out how to play the game effectively. Tons of items don't have descriptors on them, so you have to figure out what they do by trial-and-error.

I only got to the sixth floor on any of my characters, but it was always a blast to try new abilities out each time. I definitely got sad losing some of my characters, but it was more fun for me knowing that death could be behind any door.

Probably going to start playing it again, now that I need something over the holidays to play while I'm away from home.

I haven't played it in a while, but I can back up that it's well worth 86 pence/whatever it's going for in the US.

Boomer 12-20-2011 04:39 PM

Just bought the DLC for 87 cents; didn't even know it had any. I bought the game the day it came out for five bucks, and it was well worth that amount.

Meh. Pass.

Boomer 12-20-2011 05:02 PM

Was considering buying a gift copy for you, but I guess not.

Extreme Angle 12-20-2011 06:22 PM

Bought it

ClockShot 12-20-2011 06:53 PM

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Picked up Witcher 1 & 2 for $25 all together.

Boomer 12-20-2011 07:03 PM

The Witcher is fucking fantastic. Picked up W2 as well today, though from another website that had it for a few dollars cheaper, but still got it attached to Steam. I love Steamworks games.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 12-20-2011 07:33 PM

Gifts so far:

Random useless coupon
Lump of coal
Portal 2

Purchases so far:

None

FearedSanctity 12-20-2011 07:39 PM

Gave me HL2:Ep2 and coal. Don't have any of the games to do the objectives

VSG 12-20-2011 08:42 PM

Bought Portal 1,2 for $8 and Max Payne 1,2 for $3.5.

VSG 12-20-2011 09:00 PM

Any of the indy packs any good? Considering getting Super Meat Boy also.

Emperor Smeat 12-20-2011 10:53 PM

I think if you buy the Humble Indie Bundle set you get all the soundtracks for those games for free as a bonus. It also has a grandfather clause that if any game in the set was purchased before, you still get that game's soundtrack for free.

DS 12-20-2011 11:07 PM

Yeah definitely get the Humble Bundle (#4 includes Super Meat Boy). You pay what you want and can determine where the money goes.

There's also Indie Royale which includes some games that will have upcoming achievements for the Gift Pile. Again, you pay what you want.

All the games can be activated through Steam (if that needed to be said).

VSG 12-20-2011 11:15 PM

Thanks!

Super Meat Boy is fucking awesome. A shame my save file's lost.

Indie Bundle 4 (Mentioned in a post below yours) looks good, but I already have all the games in it I want.

Gonna go ahead and give this game a shot

If it isn't any good...:foc:

Extreme Angle 12-21-2011 05:35 AM

Coal from DiggleNog

FearedSanctity 12-21-2011 05:36 AM

Same

Extreme Angle 12-21-2011 05:39 AM

Dunno whether it's worth keeping the 7 coal or going for a gift...

Xero 12-21-2011 11:14 AM

FYI: if you pay above the average for the humble indie bundle 4 (think it's $5 or so), it now includes bundle 3 with a few more games. So glad i got it.

ThatsMyEagerFace 12-21-2011 03:15 PM

Bah gawd... I can't participate because (apparently) TF2 doesn't count as a game anymore :p

Iop 12-21-2011 04:10 PM

It's a pile alright, a pile of s***!
