Tell me about some mindless action games

on the XBOX 360.

I feel like I'm missing out on mindless action games. I think me and the wife have finally gotten to the point with Left 4 Dead and L4D2 where it has grown stale (not that either of those games could be called mindless).

I really enjoyed the new warhammer demo, seems like Gears of War on steroids.

Split-screen co-op is preferred, naturally, but am willing to try anything out.

I'm digging Dungeon Defenders on the PC, though it's not entirely mindless. It's an action RPG with tower defense elements. It supports up to four players, even locally on the 360 or so I've been led to believe.

Since it's an Ecks Blah game, you can demo it. I only bought it for PC because of the Steam sales making it like 2 bucks.

Will check it out. Hopefully I can get my wife into it.

RoXer 12-22-2011 08:13 PM

Have you knocked out Borderlands?

MoFo 12-22-2011 08:15 PM

Dead Rising maybe, but not as good as L4D, IMO

DaveBrawl 12-22-2011 10:45 PM

The Green Lantern game is fairly fun and it has multiplayer, as are both Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games.

</td></tr></tbody></table>

Nah. I thought you already played it in some "what are you playing" thread a while back but I guess it wasn't you.

It's an RPG style FPS. Has local and online multiplayer.

Get the game of the year version with all the DLC if you pick it up.

Watchmen 'The End is Nigh' is definitely mindless 2 player split-screen co-op. You could probably find it really cheap now.
There's Resident Evil 4 too, it has split-screen co-op, I didn't think it was the strongest outing for the series, but the split-screen was fun.

You could also try Castle Crashers, it's a beat-em-up on the Marketplace and it supports up to 4 people locally.

Kane Knight 01-11-2012 08:41 AM

Watchmen was fucking awful.

Ermaximus 01-11-2012 09:28 AM

Duke Nukem Forever is kind of pointless fun?

That it was...but he did ask for mindless after all.

Xero 01-11-2012 10:11 AM

Serious Sam is really fun and mindless, though not sure if it has split screen.

Boomer 01-11-2012 11:31 AM

Renegade Ops. XBL Split-screen dual joystick shooter with more explosions than you could probably ever ask for.

Yeah, but I think I implied that I wanted to have fun.

Scott Pilgrim the game on XBLA if you're into tributes to the 8 and 16 bit eras. Side scrolling beat em up. It's River City Ransom on steroids.

Swiss Ultimate 01-12-2012 02:10 PM

Is it two-player though? My wife hates watching me play games by myself.

If you don't mind not killing things and waiting a month, I bet the new SSX is going to be absolutely kickin rad.

Otherwise I don't think it's a massive market outside of the Halo/GoW, but Gears 3 was surprisingly good and is worth a look in.

I couldn't get into Borderlands at all, despite numerous attempts. The action feels too flat and the Diablo style play harms the ability to just get stuck in.

Doom II on XBLA has splitscreen co-op and also happens to be one of the best games ever :D

Renegade Ops is the serious answer.

Edit: Scott Pilgrim is up to 4 players, and it's now patched for drop in/drop out play I believe. I like it a lot but I'm a big Scott Pilgrim fan.

It's 4 players. So why don't you take a break from gaming, go make a couple of babies with the wife and then play this ish together as a family?

I'd also add the Final Fight arcade game and the X-Men arcade games for side scroller beat-em-ups as well.

Just avoid the Turtles in Time remake arcade game because of how badly Konami did it in comparison to the original game.

Xero 01-12-2012 03:23 PM

I liked the Turtles in Time remake. No, it's not as good as the original, but it's not a bad game standing on its own.

Kris P Lettus 01-12-2012 04:38 PM

I just want to say, I would absolutely hate playing video games with my wife as she is absolutely horrible at them.. she did start a game on Skyrim but its brutal watching her play..

She watches me though..

:)

Kane Knight 01-12-2012 05:12 PM

Scott Pilgrim seemed pretty good. It just wasn't worth the full asking price to me.

Still, not like it was a shit game. :y:
