IYO: Which is your favorite digital music format?
In your opinion: Which is your favorite digital music format?
Which digital music format do you prefer to save your music in your respective music library? Since I use an iPhone, I tend to save my music in either AAC or MP3 (VBR) in my iTunes library. I also burn my CDs to Apple Lossless. Although I can barely tell the difference between 320 Kbps and Lossless. |
mp3 though I know it's not the best quality
|
You are a winamp dude, aren't you?
|
Nah, I was for the longest time though.
|
None of the above the m4a format sounds great and takes up even less space.
|
AAC includes m4a brudda.

Mp3 is played by pretty much everything and has decent sound. I wouldn't mind a better format if it was as universal.

Basically what Kane Knight said
|
All my music got converted to 256 kbps AAC after I got iTunes Match.
|
Motherfuckers always be holding Ogg Vorbis down.
|
I listen to Real Audio though. It has a warmth you don't get in modern formats.

Word. Nothing like clicking your mouse and playing a .rm / .rmvb file on your computer.

MP3.
Ive never heard of the other ones sot hey are either for pretentious posers or for old grandmothers. |
MP3, gets the job done. My hearing is so crap I can't tell the quality difference anyway.
|
192kbps MP3 because I'm not an audiophile and can't tell any jump up in quality from that.

Note, I did say most. Because I know some douchebag is going to post "but I can tell the difference in a double blind study on standard headphones!" Most of my Mp3 collection is 192, though, so I can't really talk. It's less because I can hear a clear clarity difference and more because I'm using software that jumps from 128 to 192, and I can hear the difference there. Lossless is kind of a waste, though. I know there are some people who swear they can hear the difference between lossless and lossy, but far as I'm concerned, they're as legit as psychics. Anyway, as it is my collection is over 200 GB. Don't know why I'd make it bigger, especially since I mostly listen to them on headphones in noisy environments. And anyone who has an iProduct and feels the need for high quality files should probably get their meds adjusted. |
I shouldn't have called the Mask a douche like that.
|
Vinyl records are like turkey feasts and MP3s are like microwave dinner.
|
mp3, but FLAC if it's something I like. I have the extra room on my terabyte HD, and a nice pair of headphones, so why not?

I stole it.

I believe it.

Unless you're listening to high quality stereo speakers and sitting in perfect position, don't kid yourself. Most people are never listening to music in an ideal location to take advantages of (by way of perception) the frequencies that get lost by compression.
|
MP3.
Not much of a music snob to really notice the difference between a 128, 192, and the 300+ quality in bits. |
