What would your reaction be....

.... if you woke up tomorrow and read that Vince McMahon had died? And what impact do you think it would have on the current roster?

We were watching WWE Experience at work today, and one of my staff members jokingly said I'd probably take a week off when he passes. Obviously wouldn't, but got me thinking. I guess it's no different to another wrestler dying, but Vince is the man who got 'Sports Entertainment' to the level it is.

Dunno, your thoughts?

Ruien 01-21-2012 01:50 AM

Every show of the week would be dedicated to Vince and then the following Raw everyone would come out to the ring for an hour or so farewell thing.

I doubt it would have much impact on anything else since Steph and HHH are able to run the show (And do a lot of the work already) without Vince around. Sin Cara may get a title run but that is about it.

Razzamajazz 01-21-2012 04:05 AM

just think of the ratings the following raw would get

It wouldn't surprise me if Vince had some stipulation in his will that however he died would have to be made into some sort of televised angle akin to the exploding limo, except him really being not alive, a title on the line, and an "In Vince's Memory" casket match at the following PPV.

That, and a video package he made beforehand cutting a promo that's to be played at the event of his passing. Kinda like on The Boondocks episode "Wingmen", just without "deez nuts".

Destor 01-21-2012 05:45 AM

it would be bad. say what you will about Vince, but the people who will com behind him...not good.

Shisen Kopf 01-21-2012 08:37 AM

I would wake up and say "oh he's dead" then carry on my daily activities.

Corporate CockSnogger 01-21-2012 08:41 AM

Yeah pretty much the same as Shisen. Same as any celebrity death really.

Theo Dious 01-21-2012 09:34 AM

30 days of mourning including sack cloth, rending of garments, ritual fasting and darkness.

Seriously, I'm sure I'll be put out for quite some time. More than almost anyone else in any form of entertainment, Vince is responsible for a lot of what I enjoy in my spare time. It'll be really sad when he goes.

I'd tune in. I don't even have cable and I'd still tune in. I'd probably subscribe to cable for a month just to see it. :shifty:

I take it you mean that loosely.

Who's taking over when Vince dies?

Is it officially Triple H?

RiX1024 01-21-2012 01:45 PM

He's working us.

Triple H and Stephanie are in line, I know that. Stephanie may currently be "officially" next in line, though, and it's just a matter of Hunter continuing to learn the daily business before he takes over the top spot.

Rammsteinmad 01-21-2012 04:04 PM

It'd be shitty, but it wouldn't effect me (or anyone else I think) as guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Hart etc. These are the guys who we see fighting and clawing each week to get to and keep their positions in the company. These are the guys we're more emotionally connected to.

Xero 01-21-2012 04:14 PM

Dunno, a lot of Attitude Era fans would be connected to Vince the same way as any other performer. People loved (to hate) Vince.

Emperor Smeat 01-21-2012 04:16 PM

I would probably be shocked a bit like every big name wrestler that died with a sudden death or at least a bit sad if it was one of those long suffering types of diseases.

Also would watch all the shows that week seeing what type of tribute the WWE does considering this would be a rare and maybe first show dedicated to a non-wrestler specific death.

Probably have a special ceremony either leading up to Mania or at the next Mania itself to honor him since it was his creation. Also probably makes the WWE Hall of Fame for that year.

Stealth-Icon 01-21-2012 07:33 PM

I would have wished that I had put him in my dead pool

Asmo 01-23-2012 10:22 AM

Would be shocked, would rush to confirm and corroborate the news with other sources. Would make an effort to catch the on air programming, and then wait for the rumors. You know there'll be loads, and from every angle (WWE management, his character, backstage works / shoots)

Swiss Ultimate 01-23-2012 12:55 PM

Don't know that I'd feel anything but curiosity at how the WWE would treat his death.
