Why did Paul Bearer side with mankind?
For a short time including "Mind Games" he did, why though?
I figured it was because Mankind got to him rather than him feeling that Mankind was more of a threat than Undertaker. Also, Paul was a horrible father who played mind-games with his kids.
to give Mankind an advantage over Undertaker and to expose his weakness, and plus to humanise Undertaker.
the writers told him to.

What was his "motivation" though? Wiki doesn't say.
I always assumed that it was because he found out his "son" was alive.....only it took Kane 1.5 years to return......
He said he was sick and tired of being sick and tired. He was tired of carrying the Undertaker around and stuff.

Here's the post Summerslam interview:

Paul Bearer had gotten "sick and tired" of Undertaker constantly making him late to things. If you've seen his ring entrance you know, it literally takes him 20 minutes to walk 100 feet. Now imagine you've got a doctor's appointment, or a lunch meeting, and you've got to wait 2 fucking hours for him to get to the car, buckle his seat belt, get out and lock the doors, walk to the entry way.....etc.
Bottom line is, Mankind walked and kept up a much better pace. It allowed Paul Bearer to be more prompt and improved his career as a manager as he didn't look so god damn irresponsible by showing up late to shit. |
