So crowds still do the 'what' thing?
 
So I just watched HHH/Taker video, and Taker was getting the classic 'what'. So, do you think the audience actually knows where that came from? I mean it was like ten years ago now, and I just figured it would be dead and buried by now. What's the deal?

They seem to be making it Truth's deal now with the "don't what me, okay what me". So they're keeping it alive.

Not really a shot at the Undertaker, but the "what" chant would be a lot less prominent if wrestlers cut different promos. So many of them do the "say a sentence, pause, say another sentence, pause" that plays right into it.

Get someone like Dolph who can do quick, rapidfire promos, and it'll be a lot harder to "what."

pretty much exactly what Austin says on his DVD about it, the guys who "exceed" at promos and don't do it by the numbers can get past the what chants

The first 'what?' promos were hilarious to me. He was talking down to Tazz or somebody in one of them like "You lost? What? To X-Pac? What?"

and his promo for the 2002 Rumble where he just rambles about drinking and eating is something 99.9% of guys that get into pro wrestling wish they would ever be able to do, just talking utter shite for 5 minutes and still be that entertaining and have the crowd eat up every single word of it

The "What?" chants have become a part of the WWE now whether we like it or not. I'm sure the older fans know where it's coming from, and the kids just do it cause everyone else is. It'll probably be around for a long while if it ever disappears at all.

As long as a crowd is reacting in any way, shape, or form...it's a good thing. The 'what' chants make the live event feel interactive, and I really don't see a problem with it at all.

Wish WWE crowds were more like old school ECW and shout shit like "you suck dick" in boring promos instead of "wat"

I dunno about that. I went to like 30 ECW shows and they were the best shit in the world, but something about screaming YOU SUCK DICK while standing next to a kid in a Cena shirt rubs me the wrong way.

Just came out as a reference to the fact that I LOVE the ecw atmosphere and have been a part of it, and dont think it would be a good thing for WWE crowds.

But then I read that post and felt like it sounded really douche baggy, so I wanted to clarify.
