RIP Doug Furnas
Gabe Sapolsky just posted on Twitter. Died overnight, had long term health problems :(
|
Damn. R.I.P :(
I've just read that he had been suffering from Parkinson's Disease for a few years. I didn't know that. :-\ |

R.I.P. though. :(
|
no way he'll get a mention on tv on Monday right?
|
Doug Furnas was one of my favorites growing up. He had one of the best Dropkicks and Frankensteiners in the business. And unlike a lot of strongmen who transitioned into pro wrestling, he adapted the most by trading much of his muscle mass for ring skills.

Sad. Hell of wrestler. Had some really interesting gimmicks, and some really good matches.
|
I seriously haveno idea who this guy is....help me out.
Rip regardless |
He was a world class powerlifter turned wrestler. He wrestled mostly tags with Dan Kroffat. He mostly wrestled in Japan and a number of great matches. I know there is a stigma here with puro, but he had a great match with Van Dam in ECW, I'll try to find it.

|
RIP, great wrestler, enjoyed some of his matches in WWE.
|
He was part of the quebeckers in WWF, right?
Heard he was only 50. Far too young. |

I remember wrestling Doug Furnas in Don Owens teriitory out in Portland in 1986. So of a bitch wouldn't sell my Canadian Destroyer.
|
After watching a few matches with Owen and Bulldog I still do not remember this guy or that team at all. How long was he in the wwf?

Most memorable thing was their debut at a Survivor Series, it was a 3 on 3 tag team survivor series match. I want to say Furnas and LaFon did all the eliminations on their teams' side.
|
RIP Doug Furnas
him and Dan Kroffat were a damn good tag team |

I also liked their series with The British Bulldogs at the tail end of 1989.
November 19, 1989 (with Kenta Kobashi as The British Bulldogs' partner and Masanobu Fuchi as The Can-Am Express' partner) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3mDTG5UvDeo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> December 6, 1989 <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wzWq1Sp3_BY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c_plyMQp2EA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Zenk sucks compared to Furnas and Kroffat. Martel was the better half of the team.
|
I also grew up enjoying Furnas and LaFon in WWF. R.I.P.
