"Old School" Heel Tactics/Heat
Was just thinking about Owen Hart and this came to mind. Same goes with Flair, etc. The cheap heat, the "begging," stepping out of the ropes, etc.
Owen was hilarious. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eF_QPkcdioA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Funny part starts at 3:30 or so. Then there's Owen "celebrating" vs. Bret in a completely random stalemate of a tie-up. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HbZL56QEgcE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> 3:30, lol |

thats not cheap heat, cheap heat is like...calling people fat/gay/thigns that are blatently obviously and also kinda ruin people enjoyment of the show. taking a powder isnt cheap heat tho.
|
to the topic i have no idea why no one really works the powder on TV. been so long since anyone really did it it would prolly get over.

Old school heel stuff does work... It always has. The thing is it has to be used well...

I always loved the heel move of pulling the valet in the way. Savage used to do it all the time with Elizabeth. Glad to see Daniel Bryan bringing that back.
Also, the guy who would talk a big game then immediately beg for mercy at the first glimpse of confrontation. Not just taking a powder, I'm talking about 100% cowardice. Like Bobby Heenan used to do with Big Bossman. |
I also loved grabbing the ropes when you have the guy in the submission move. I don't know how that could really give someone more leverage, but it seemed work pretty well.
