WWE Smackdown (Airing March 23rd, 2012)

* World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and his girlfriend AJ Lee open the show. Bryan gets massive heat from the crowd as he tells AJ to explain why she loves him. Sheamus interrupts the segment and declares he will win the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 28.

* Mark Henry squashed R-Truth.

* Yokozuna is announced for the WWE Hall of Fame.

* The Great Khali and Zack Ryder were announced for Team Long at WrestleMania 28.

* AJ Lee beat Brie Bella afrer a distraction fro Daniel Bryan.

* Zack Ryder defeated Jack Swagger.

* We get a video from earlier in the day with Cody Rhodes. He guarantees a win over Big Show at WrestleMania 28 and leaves so he can catch is plane.

* Big Show beat Kane by DQ after Cody Rhodes interfered. After Show chased Cody off through the crowd, Randy Orton slid into the ring and hit Kane with a RKO.

* Brodus Clay beat Heath Slater in a quick squash match.

* Backstage segment with Eve Torres and Zack Ryder. She blows him off.

* Christian came to ringside for commentary.

* Dolph Ziggler comes out with John Laurinaitis and David Otunga and The Great Khali comes out with Teddy Long and Santino Marella. Laurinaitis calls for the bell when Ziggler applies the sleeper to end the match. Teddy restarts the match and threatens to count Ziggler out and he does. Santino and Kofi Kingston take care of Ziggler and toss him back in the ring where Khali lays him out with a big chop.

* CM Punk and Sheamus defeated Daniel Bryan and The Miz in the main event. Sheamus got the pin over Miz after a Brogue Kick.

Seriously wish they knew what they wanted to do with this Eve/Ryder thing. These storylines where they just kinda go aimlessly because the writers obviously don't have an end in mind are getting old.

WrestleMania was looking so stacked. Outside the main 4 matches, you had the Team Laurinaitis vs Team Long match for control of both shows, Money in the Bank, Beth vs Kharma in what would have been one of the more WrestleMania worthy divas matches ever, presumably some kind of match to bring the hot Ryder/Eve story to a head (Miz w/ Eve vs Ryder w/ Kelly Kelly could have had an AMAZING build).

The undercard has really taken a nosedive over the past couple weeks.

Cena was in the dark match main event for Smackdown but not on the show itself? What the hell?

Was this first match for Clay since his exile?

I'm always concerned about musicians playing live at WrestleMania, especially after Kid Rock killed the crowd at WrestleMania 25 until HBK/Taker but it seems like WWE learned from that and will use them properly. We can only hope Motorhead and Metallica are there live to perform the most drunken and coked out mishmash of songs in the history of the world.

Who anchors each team? Rey and Del Rio?

So far, Team Long hasn't announced shit.

I really wish Indian people had better taste in wrestlers. Then we could stop with this whole Khali nonsense.

I love that wwe fan assumes a storyline is going nowhere simply because the resolution hasn't hit yet. Not swung yr wrong, just sort of pessimistic.

I could see McIntyre getting the last spot on Team Ace. Possibly even A-train.

It's not that. It's the fact that a) As hot as it was they were in prime position to make a big WrestleMania match out of it and dropped the ball and b) We've seen time and time again where they have a storyline and as it goes on you realize the idea never actually included an end point. Like with the Cena-Kane embrace the hate thing, the anonymous Raw GM, Jericho's "cryptic videos" leading to the mystery of the silent promos and him openly crying in the ring. ("HAH! Trolled you! Anyway, moving on... I WANT THE WWE TITLE!").

WWE has had a habit of building things up and not really knowing what to do past a certain point and just petering out. So with the whole random backstage heel turn, the Cena thing, now she's a changed woman and actually likes Zack again, they're supposed to go out, Ryder announces he got stood up on Twitter, she scoffs at Beth for her thinking she's using Ryder, now she's forming an alliance with Beth while Ryder's in the "guys we don't have anything else for" 12 man tag match, it's all pretty much the same thing they've been doing.

I can't see how it wouldn't be del Rio.

Team Long has announced the same amount as Team Laurinaitis...

Ryder is a good addition to Team Long but Khali looks out of place sort of similar to when Mason Ryan was randomly added in to matches and teams for no real reason.

or when The Great Khali was added into the elimination chamber match.

What the hell happened to Mason Ryan? Is he still on the roster?

Primo & Epico beat Mason Ryan & Alex Riley on this week's Superstars. They should really move the WWE Tag Team Titles onto Kofi Kingston & R-Truth in time for WrestleMania, even if Primo & Epico win them back straight after Mania. Just get the belts on the show.

Daniel Bryan is amazingly good as a heel.
