Has John Romero made anybody his bitch lately?
 

Of coarse, by "Made anybody his bitch" I mean "crashed any Ferraris or bought himself any Italian marble floors with software development money".

Is there anything new going on with the ONE MAN ROCK BAND OF GAME DEVELOPMENT, JOHN ROMERO!?!?! *throws up the devil horns* Wikipedia doesn't tell me much, he's gotten married+divorced in the last 5 years and his team was porting games to the N-gage when it was alive. Has anybody heard anything interesting recently?

Also, I wanna start a discussion of the so-convoluted-it's-funny history of Ion Storm.

Hmmm. This is a very odd coincidence. A good friend of mine just moved out to San Franciso and is currently working for John Romero. Says the guy is awesome. Also John recently made a facebook game called Ravenwood or something.

Very strange...

Ah, so he's moved from the realm of Shooters into Farmville / Mafia Wars style gaming. Your friend should convince him to make a Doom based FPS of that Facebook game where you're the unicorn and you have to jump over rainbows.

Yeah, he's making "dumb" social media games and such, no serious game making after the Daikatana fiasco. I like Romero and I'm one of the few who actually really liked Daikatana when it came out. Sure it was dated, but it was fun, and the different environments were well done. When they patched to remove the whole "save crystal" nonsense, it took away the only major complaint I had about the game.
