I Care So Little About WWE Right Now
and have for such a long time - that I am literally 30 mins. away from Miami and have not even considered going to WM or any of the festivities this year.
I am forced to attend RAW, as I am going to help chaperone a charity group that got tickets from WWE - but I am 1000% sure I will spend most of the night on the internet on my phone, when not looking after the kids. Yeah. So that is really how bad it has gotten for me. Is anyone else completely not interested - or getting there? :?: |
It's a lot better than this time last year. Nexus had been aborted for a while and WM was pretty dull.
The card for WM bar a few necessary exceptions is stacked too so I'm quite excited right now. I stopped watching like 2002 until the ECW revival, then stopped after Heyman left again and didn't get back into it until the Nexus. For me, it's one hell of a lot better creatively than post-invasion WWE. |
I think things are at a high point right now and it's not just the WrestleMania build. If you've been uninterested for a while though then I guess the peaks and valleys don't really stand out as much.
|
It actually sounds more like you just growing out of a love for wrestling personally than anything that has to do with the product.
|
It's not really that.
Actually, over the past few months I've got back in the ring - lost some weight, toned up, etc. Been trying to prepare to make a return to 'full-time' indy work and maybe run some shows - so it's not that I'm totally disinterested - just in most of today's product. TNA entertains me every now and again - but they too [obviously] let me down. |
If this WrestleMania was even remotely close to me i'd be there.
|
The only problem I see right now is that it's not as good as last summer or the summer before that. I don't know why they can be creatively great in small pockets and then merely passable like they are right now.
I'm excited for WM for the matches. Barring Punk/Jericho, the build-up has been a bit shitty. |
When I read the WM card, I was only interested in Punk vs. Y2J and HHH vs. Taker.
Don't care for the Rock or Cena, so that was out - and to me, the rest of the card felt like something they'd put together when you play a season mode on a WWE game, if Maria Menounos was on the game of course. |

Hate it when people would like to go to something and can't. |
I don't know. The rise of Punk and how Cena is being used as well as Rock's return are both just perfect for pleasing the entire spectrum of wrestling fans. I really think they're on such a great path.
The midcard is shit still though which does make the week by week shows a crapshoot. And I find live WWE events overrated anyway so seeing it live would actually bring it down more. |
I'm far more excited for this years Mania than last year

Creative still needs to be consistent and aim for perfection with every little detail instead of half-assing a lot of stuff and writing lazy like they tend to do. Sheamus and Bryan's build has also left a lot to be desired. Rock-Cena and Taker-HHH have a great feel though and Jericho-Punk has been good though they've struggled to bring it up and make it feel like a legit main event with those other two matches on the card. |

That, and for me, I just have little to no interest in most of 'today's guys'. It has 50/50 to do with their actual abilities and the above mentioned problems. |
Also, I agree with your statements and assessments above - about the build-up, potential factors, etc.
|
I have 5 bucks on #1 wwf fan saying this will be the worst WrestleMania ever for the the third straight year ;)

A lot of good stuff on paper for this WrestleMania. Rock/Cena changes everything about this WrestleMania but not because of the match itself.Every single superstar in the back will want to steal the show to show these guys up.
The only matches I couldn't give a shit about is Kane/Orton and the Divas match. Though Maria is a Patriots fan, so I gotta support her a little bit. The wrong Maria is involved in the WWE right now though. :( The Daniel Bryan/Sheamus thing is great right now. They were cut from the show last year and now they are part of a World Title match. They both fought back from getting somewhat de-pushed and are in the Smackdown main event for the World Heavyweight Title. Big Show and Cody have entertained with Big Show's disappointing WM appearances in the past. "Wrestlemania Whoooooo!" Cody currently is the 9th longest Intercontinental Champion in history. I hope he retains and keeps his push strong. If he loses I hope he's the first in line for Sheamus for the World Title (if Sheamus wins and DB doesn't get the title back at the next PPV.) If I could find a basketball face-guard for cheap I was planning to be Cody at a WrestlMania costume party. -CM Punk and Jericho is a dream match. -Zack Ryder getting his first WM match. WWE also putting together the tag team match for power of Raw/Smackdown. Interesting how they have sort quickly switched from Raw vs. Smackdown to Teddy/Johnny. -Plus an outside Hell in a Cell. Should be interesting if it rains. |

If I did, I was probably just pissed because HBK lost.
Last year was definitely the worst ever though. |

26 was a real mixed bag, but it had MITB, HBK/Taker and Punk/Mysterio. Edge/Jericho was fun, but it was a victim of expectation I think. It was as mind-blowingly awesome as we were all expecting. HHH/Sheamus and the Legacy match were acceptable but everything else stunk quite hard.
27 was the mouthwash to make the taste of that go away though. Shame it was made from liquid dog faeces. |

Brodus Clay should have won that season of NXT anyways. Basically he did anyways.

Drew McIntyre

Thanks for a great discussion thus far guys.
Like to hear everyone's views and opinions here. :y: |
When I bought my Mania ticket back in November I wasn't very excited for it. But every year with out fail they get me hooked during Wrestlemania season, so I knew I'd regret it if I didn't go. Now I'm here I'm glad that I booked the trip. My interest tends to peak then through the Summer months because there's not a whole lot else to watch sports wise. Then when August/September comes around WWE takes a back seat for me until the Royal Rumble again. I still watch during those months, I just don't give it as much attention or care as much as other things as I spend much of my time reading about and watching Rugby, Football and NFL at stupid times in the morning.

Im fairly convinced that top top 5 matches on the card (everything but the RAW/SD GM match, Divas Match and Orton/Kane) will be Wrestlemania quality matches that will make this stand out as one of the top WM's ever.
I say Im fairly convinced because I have a bad feeling that Sheamus/Daniel Bryan is going to get short changed in the time department, but if they give it time it will be good. |
I'm disappointed that they couldn't do more with Orton and Kane since both had potential to have great WrestleMania matches.
|
Personally, I am a lot less interested in this year's Mania compared to last year's.
The build for most of the matches seem really weak compared to last year. |
I'm looking forward to the 12 man though just because there's so much at stake and while it's obviously not gonna be a mat classic, it should be a fun match.

The build to Cena-Miz was horrendous and the match lived up to it. It's like night and day compared to Cena-Rock this year. Triple H and Taker is more intriguing this year than it was last as well. It's pretty much like last year was just a bigger scale Raw to set up this year's WrestleMania. |

Not a personal knock on you #1-wwf-fan, I'm just throwin' that out there. |
I'm not as interested as I used to be. The WWE or wrestling in general is only on my t.v when there's no Leaf/Jays games on. Can't really pinpoint it, although I starting to think with my love for Brodus Clay, it's because of the lack of characters. WWE will deny it, but MMA has had a major influence. Soooo many wrestlers now don't have an identifiable gimmick anymore. I give the guys in ROH so much flack because they are basically have the same "intense gimmick". I enjoyed it more when each guy had some sort of gimmick, be it Val Venis' porn star gimmick to APA's bar room brawler gimmick. Too much of the same thing exists and that why I really like Clay and am looking forward to Lord Tenshi.
|
Probably poor wording on my part. I should have said "lived down to it". As in the build was horrendous and the match went on to be on par with what was expected.
|
It may have a little to do with MMA, Gertner but I'd credit it more to just a lack of creativity.
|
Im not really interested in any of the top matches this year...
The only ones im interested in are Team Teddy/Team Johnny and Cody/Show. Taker/HHH is a distant third. |

Johnny Curtis pulls off the creepy gimmick better than anybody I've seen. He's really great.
|
The WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE match this year has little to no heat. Same with Randy Orton's match. Cody Rhode's match (and build up) is a tremendous step down from last year, despite being a title match.
