Can't wait to see the reaction Chael gets when he walks out to the cage.

NICE

It's like that Abu Dabi shit..

James Steele 04-04-2012 10:21 PM

Jesus Christ, I hope they got enough security for that shit.

Next Big Thing 04-05-2012 10:40 AM

That's what I'm saying. After all the things Sonnen has said about Silva/Brazil and all the trash he will talk in the build up, there's no way those fans won't raise hell 10 feet if Silva loses. It's not just American vs. Brazilian; it's American who has said some borderline racist shit vs. beloved Brazilian fighter and legend of the sport.

Either way, I think this is going to be one of the most memorable events in all of sports, not just MMA.

Shaved Monkey 04-05-2012 11:16 AM

I think it would be awesome if Sonnen had his own Popemobile surrounded by Marines to escort him to and from the Octagon.

Funky Fly 04-05-2012 02:52 PM

Dude, have you ever seen soccer rivalries boil over? We're talking brawls across the stands to the point that fires break out and so many people in one place to brawl that fucking concrete stands start collapsing. This could get ugly.

That actually reminds me. I wonder if the Brazilian fans will react to Dana White saying last week that soccer requires no skill at all.

Kris P Lettus 04-05-2012 04:21 PM

You see that video of the soccer player reading the open letter to Dana White??

Really? Dana is such a fucking twat.

Kris P Lettus 04-07-2012 06:12 PM

The quote is in the video..

 Awesome. Dana will probably be a little bitch about it like he was with Tito.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 04-07-2012 06:18 PM

You'd think the guy who runs one of the most badmouthed sports on the planet would know better than to make ignorant statements about other sports.

James Steele 04-07-2012 06:38 PM

He is an arrogant wannabe bitch. What do you expect?

Kris P Lettus 04-07-2012 06:41 PM

LOL

What does he wannabe exactly??

James Steele 04-08-2012 01:47 AM

He thinks he is some badass mother fucker when he is nothing but a failed boxer who got to ride the coattail of his friend all the way to the top of the MMA world. He has done amazing things for UFC and MMA, but he is such an over-the-top arrogant piece of shit that he is holding UFC and MMA from going to the next level of mainstream acceptance. Goodell, Selig, etc. don't act like Dana White does and it would be completely unacceptable for them to because when you are the top authority figure for a major professional sports league, you fucking act like it.

Crimson 04-08-2012 02:50 AM

Cant defend Dana sometimes. He does go out of bounds alot.

When did you get into MMA Steele? Are you becoming a big fan like Jabba did after Lesnar drew him in.

Not gonna lie, I like reading your posts even when I disagree or think you don't know what the hell you're talking about. It's always fun when hardcore, but still intelligent wrestling fans get into MMA because they bring the same enthusiasm they have for wrasslin'. That's assuming you don't find a fighter who becomes your Triple H of MMA of course.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:11 PM

I started watching during the peak of Liddell/Couture and really got into it with TUF Season 1, but I don't watch it religiously. I enjoy the big fights and Diego Sanchez is still my favorite fighter even though he's been through some shit.

EDIT: I'll be the first to admit that I do not know all the finer points of MMA or study the different fighting styles and techniques, but I know enough to know Dana is a massive twat.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2012 08:14 PM

uggghhhhh

Sanchez??

Really??

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/md_8WJzhsow" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:26 PM

I don't do flavors of the month. I loved him on TUF1 and as such I will continue to be a fan.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:28 PM

Same reason I will always hate Chris Leben, I suppose.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2012 08:35 PM

See I hated Diego on TUF 1 and loved Leban..

Still do..

Krimzon7 04-08-2012 08:46 PM

I loved MMA during TUF 1. Still do. Not being a cunt, but none of the season 1 guys stuck out to me. Season two however....well we won't get into all of that here :)

Fighter wise, season two is superior but personality wise I think Season 1 still has the best assortment of fighters you either get behind or hate.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:55 PM

I don't understand how anyone can like Chris Leben.

James Steele 04-08-2012 08:56 PM

Back on topic, what is the over/under on a riot in Brazil?

Next Big Thing 04-08-2012 09:02 PM

I seriously think the PPV is worth the buy just to hear the reaction Sonnen gets when he is introduced and the crowd chaos that will result if he wins. You know he's going to come out to "America the Beautiful" or something to serve as fuel to the fire too.

James Steele 04-08-2012 09:07 PM

If I had the money, I'd pay whatever amount it took for him to come out to "America, Fuck Yeah!".

The over under is set at the opening credits.... I'm going with UNDER. This may be the ppv that starts with the backstage riot.

He should come out to Living In America Apollo Creed style.

Fuck it, throw the costume on too. That would be worth the PPV price alone.

Kris P Lettus 04-09-2012 06:05 PM

He should def wear the Apollo/Rampage American flag trunks..

Kris P Lettus 04-10-2012 07:34 PM

I want this shirt..

$30?!?!?

weather vane 04-10-2012 11:56 PM

is that expensive?

Kris P Lettus 04-11-2012 12:19 AM

The walkout shirts are always around that price but it's just kinda ridiculous to me.. I'll just wait until after the fight and get it for half price..

Last month, the UFC announced middleweight king Anderson Silva (Pictured) would rematch Chael Sonnen on June 23rd at Engenhão Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fast forward less than 30 days and the United Nations have thrown a major monkey wrench into the Octagon’s UFC 147 plans.

The UN has scheduled their conference on Sustainable Development from June 20-22 in Brazil. Although the event’s website did not disclose how many are expected to attend the festivities, the three-day gathering is looking to host thousands of people.

“We’re working on it, it’s still a work in progress. We’re working through it trying to figure this whole thing out,” UFC president Dana White said during Saturday’s ‘UFC on FUEL TV 2′ post-fight press conference. “The problem is, they don’t like the idea of us coming the same time this United Nations convention is going on.

“The other problem is hotel rooms. Most of the hotel rooms are being taken up. And we don’t think, we know that the Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen fight is one of the biggest sporting events this year, in the world.”

Engenhão holds approximately 47,000 capacity for soccer matches, but the UFC should be able to increase that number significantly by reconfiguring the arena to accommodate their cage. The final tally should threaten the promotion’s all-time attendance record of 55,724, which was set last April at UFC 129 inside Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

“I think it’s a huge sporting event,” White said of the highly-anticipated sequel. “I think people will come to Rio from all over the world. I think we’re going to need hotel rooms. Hopefully, we’ll get this thing done in the next few days – one way or the other.”

After manhandling Silva for nearly five complete rounds at UFC 117, Sonnen was abruptly submitted by “The Spider” with only 110 ticks remaining on the clock. Since the August 2010 defeat, Sonnen has been doing everything within his power to land a rematch – including insulting every Brazilian fighter within earshot.
