Greatest movie to never have a sequel.

100% stolen from the video games forum.

Go.

El Fangel 04-16-2012 02:57 PM

This is actually a very difficult question. A lot of great movies ended the movie with no questions left unanswered, so I feel a sequel to any great movie would be disliked by near everyone who enjoyed the original.

For me, I would say a sequel to Detroit Rock City where the guys get back together to go see Kiss one more time.

Hmm, good one. Best movie to never have a sequel.... Forrest Gump?

I agree with this. At least in terms of films where a sequel would make sense, you could have a good story, and not crap all over the first one. As much as I like a movie like Fight Club for example (as previously mentioned) I don't see a logical sequel for it. Same with a movie like Inception, etc.

Blade Runner, although I dunno, it works fine as a stand-alone, but such a rich universe to play with for sequel / side-qual ideas.

Nicky Fives 04-17-2012 12:32 PM

Goodfellas, Forrest Gump and Scarface immediately come to mind.....although Scarface would kinda half to be a prequel to count.....

How about American History X? A sequel could pick up right where the first one left off. Granted it'd probably end up being a revenge type flick and it'd most likely be shit. But whatever.

Was originally gonna say this but I forgot the sequel was Ridley Scott's next project that would not have any of the original actors involved.

The "sequel" NES game doesn't count.

I had actually heard a rumor about that a few years ago, and the original cast were to "ensemble cameo" as the parents for the new leads. If there actually were some truth to it, it might be in one of those development limbos that keep it from seeing the light of day (like "Superman Lives!").

I remember seeing that too,i think the script or at least part of it was leaked online a few years ago.
