The most difficult fight/mission/part in video game history

You know what I'm talking about, the ones that cause curse words that have little meaning, tears, dozens of attempts and the system flying out the window.

Racing Hillary in Vice City
Seymour on the Mountain in FFX
Emerald Weapon on FF7
Shagohad in MGS3
That one on one fight from Tactics

Funky Fly 04-22-2012 07:51 PM

Apparently the final boss of FFXI was supposed to be impossible. People were literally getting banned from the game for beating it.

Ultra Mantis 04-22-2012 07:59 PM

You had trouble with the Shagohad?

Lazarovic from Uncharted 2 (Crushing mode) was an absolute dick
Matador from SMT Nocturne was another absolute dick
The last boss of Altered Beast (PS2 "remake") is the worst, most unfair boss fight in any game I've ever played

Deep Sea Research facility from FF8 was pretty frustrating. Also Kuja's Palace from FF9 is a nightmare if you screw up your party.

El Fangel 04-22-2012 08:02 PM

Volgin and then the Shagohad, that whole sequence gave me problems. Also I'm not talking difficulty cranked, I'm talking just plain fucking frustrating.

G 04-22-2012 08:14 PM

The part where you try to enjoy your gaming experience with a PS3. Probably the toughest of all.

El Fangel 04-22-2012 08:16 PM

Lol.

OssMan 04-22-2012 08:17 PM

The last series of bosses in ninja gaiden

G 04-22-2012 08:17 PM

Mile High Club was tough1stuff.

G 04-22-2012 08:20 PM

TMNT was unnecessary.

I remember seymour being hardest in Macalania Temple but I don't think anything from FF is harder than the last dungeon in FF3 or the hall of giants from first FF.

OssMan 04-22-2012 08:20 PM

Anything mandatory at least

G 04-22-2012 08:21 PM

Is the Racing Hillary the race that takes place on the beginning island, the one on the right. I remember doing that about 78 times.

G 04-22-2012 08:22 PM

Wasn't there another retarded one in San Andreas with Tobias Fünke

Never played XI.

Blitz 04-22-2012 09:01 PM

Final Fantasy Tactics probably contains most of them. Vs. Weigraf one on one in particular. That shit could actually make your whole game for naught if you didn't train Ramza right. Golgorand Execution Site also gave me a hell of a time.

ClockShot 04-22-2012 09:22 PM

The first fight with Alma in Ninja Gaiden on Xbox.
Divine Dragon in Legend of Dragoon
Shao Khan in MK: Shaolin Monks. Only way to take him down was with the projectiles. NOTHING ELSE WORKED!
Kai Leng on Insanity on Mass Effect 3.
Theseus in God of War 2

And that's off the top of my head.

Swiss Ultimate 04-22-2012 09:33 PM

Bowser- Mario Bros.

Requiem 04-22-2012 09:40 PM

Anything in God of War 2 Titan Mode.

Also, the fucking Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls. Fuck them.

Haven't played them but Seymour on the mountain was won due to Bahamuts OD.

Second island I think, All I know it was abnormally frustrating for the reward.

I believe so, can't remember. Also the Zero missions are painful.

Yes, that fucker :( Also Bethla Garrison used to give me problems.

You choose titan mode, I mean normal difficult.

Also, Dark Souls in general you seem to have to be self punishing to play.

And sometimes infuriating. But I doubt most difficult.

I mean, BATTLETOADS.

El Fangel 04-22-2012 11:44 PM

Never played Battletoads.

Kane Knight 04-23-2012 12:14 AM

It's for real men, not Sascha's leftovers.

Yet he's still less challenging to defeat than Navarro from the original it only takes one mistake and you're toast even on the easy setting.

El Fangel 04-23-2012 12:24 AM

They why have you played it? :p

This.

Also, the last dungeon in Final Fantasy III, for similar reasons.

I am guilty of playing Really tough games, to prove my "gamer manliness", but they have to be fun. Stuff like Contra, and Super Meat Boy.

Not about to sit down and play through Silver Surfer, because that shit is just broken.

Nark Order 04-23-2012 01:12 AM

Megaman 2. The entire game.

Fignuts 04-23-2012 01:19 AM

lol what?

Fignuts 04-23-2012 01:22 AM

No idea how mega man got it's current reputation of being a "ridiculously hard" series. They aren't cakewalks, but they aren't even close to the Ninja Gaidens, Contras, or even the Castlevanias.

El Fangel 04-23-2012 01:35 AM

Castlevania....shudder.

Navarro was a fair fight thought, if you died it was because you made a mistake. On crushing he took me at most four attempts to beat him, Lasaravic took at least thirty.

OssMan 04-23-2012 07:04 AM

Megaman 2 isn't bad. The first mega man can go stand on top of a large ship though

This. The opening platform section of the Guts Man stage is pure agony. Oh and the disappearing blocks bit, in an ice level of all places. Everyone loves disappearing blocks and ice levels right?

El Fangel 04-23-2012 07:14 AM

This thread makes me want to cry at times.

Kane Knight 04-23-2012 09:03 AM

Angry Birds.

El Fangel 04-23-2012 09:51 AM

Since they added that bullshit green one in, yeah, its annoying.

PrettyCool 04-23-2012 10:15 AM

Super Ghosts and Goblins or whatever.

Kane Knight 04-23-2012 10:51 AM

Singstar.

Bah most of the levels are a cakewalk for me I found Mega Man 3 to be more challenging especially in the latter stages in the game which featured 2 undead bosses from Mega Man 2 for 4 levels.
