Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars

Watched it yesterday and loved it. Felt like a great way to end the series. Ben Browder is so ridiculously likeable.

Seriously thinking about buying the comics now.

Kane Knight 04-27-2012 09:25 PM

I didn't know there were comics.

Ben and Claudia made the last season of Stargate one of the best.

Peacekeeper Wars was really the best of a bad situation.

I should start Netflixing Farscape. Its been too long, and I got lost when I stopped being able to watch it regularly.

I picked it all up on DVD a few years ago and started re-watching it all, but I got kind of sidetracked around Season 2.

Definitely need to get back to it.

Got the whole set in an Amazon sale. Pretty awesome price for what should be considered a classic series. Not perfect, but pretty Frellin' good.

Everything but the Peacekeeper Wars is on Netflix US right now. It's pretty hardcore to cancel a show like that on a cliff-hanger. Fans were pretty pissed. Honestly heard the ratings weren't bad even with the shit timeslots that Scifi US gave 'em. Though maybe it was produced by someone else first???

Don't know much about why the show was cancelled, but considering how shitty SYFY is...

Sci Fi killed the show as they weren't going to help fund it. They claimed it was too expensive, but at the same time they had announced that they wanted to do more "terrestrial" science fiction. Which basically meant they were on another "We don't want to do science fiction anymore" kicks.

A lot of people blamed Atlantis, but that was just nerdrage.

SyFy (still rofl about that name) kills alot of shows off for no reason and at bad times.

Look at how they killed SG-1 in the middle of the Ori saga. They had a 200th show party for the cast and crew and one of the big wigs walked out on stage and wished them all the best in their future endeavours for no reason at all.

And that is probably the most popular show they have ever had, really.

I was also upset at Atlantis getting killed, but whatever. Kill the 2 good Stargate shows and replace them with that shit Universe show. Which they also killed on a cliffhanger.

FUCK SYFY. >_<

(Still bitter they killed First Wave)

It wasn't Atlantis. It's because they keep funding those shitty Q-list movies they have on every Saturday night. You know a movie has to suck when it's clear they make a new one every week. Just look at the last 2 weeks offerings. Alien Tornado and Space Twister. Sometimes it baffles me that these are the same people running USA, which has an abundance of great shows imo.

Their hatred for science fiction has been really strange to watch, honestly.

Stargate SG-1 was even worse because it was still like their best rated show at the time.

I'm betting the real reason was money: The cast was expensive and Sci Fi is cheap.

Atlantis I was okay with because at least it finished all its shit up without the need for extra stories. It annoys the fuck out of me that after 10 years (Not all on Sci Fi, but still), SG-1 got the "Peacekeeper Wars" treatment. Granted, I liked Atlantis more at the end than the beginning and would have liked to have seen more, but it was complete.

Honestly, though, this is nothing new. Look at Sliders. Sci Fi ruined it the minute they got their mitts on it and while the decay wasn't immediate, it was pretty fast.

I mean, trying to do the "B-movie rip-off of the week?" LAME.

Hence I mocked it as nerdrage. Also...Seriously? Alien Tornado and Space Twister?

:wtf:

It's been bizarre to see them waffle, especially.

"We don't want to do outer space anymore."
"Catch Stargate Atlantis, starting...."
"Science Fiction is passé. We want more terrestrial stories like 'the Sixth Sense.'"
"Battlestar Galactica did how many viewers? Let's get on that shit!"

Also, it annoys me that I like Eureka so much, since the Hollywood cliché of "herp derp, the geniuses need the help of a retard to save the day!" is such bullshit.

Sepholio 04-30-2012 12:14 PM

Don't worry, Eureka is getting the axe too. Rumor has it that Sanctuary isn't far behind. The leaves them with Warehouse 13 and Haven. Although in fairness I actually like Haven because I'm a Stephen King mark.

Also, I like Eureka too. Think it is the best show they have left right now.

Kane Knight 05-02-2012 11:48 AM

I thought Eureka was already canned.

They'll kill Warehouse 13 soon enough.

Saw 1 episode of Haven. Didn't do it for me.

Sepholio 05-02-2012 12:02 PM

Think they are running the last season of Eureka right now. When they axed it they said there would be one more season to finish it off. At least they gave it that courtesy, hell of a lot more than they do for their other shows.

Ah well, make way for more reality shows on SyFy.

Sepholio 05-02-2012 12:03 PM

Thinking about it now, the only reason I still enjoy the channel is because they still play some good shows from time to time on those daily marathons from like 8am-4pm.

I don't have cable, so I've basically just caught up on Eureka on Netflix. I remember reading it was canceled, but I wasn't sure on when.

I enjoy Eureka and Warehouse 13, even though they have one of those "lol science" deals.
