Would you watch Rock vs Austin today?

It looks like TNA is gonna have Hogan vs Flair.... again. You could say that Rock vs Austin is the equivalent to Hogan/ Flair, so if WWE wanted to have Rock vs Austin today, would you care to see it?

Kane Knight 05-16-2012 09:03 PM

I'm not rightly sure. They're old, but they could still be entertaining. I just don't expect Austin to have much "go" in him.

Nowhere Man 05-16-2012 09:05 PM

As a main event program? Probably not. As a one-night-only special attraction? Definitely.

GD 05-16-2012 09:10 PM

I would say yes. But not in a main event capacity. And I don't think that Ric Flair versus Hulk Hogan is equivalent to Rock versus Stone Cold. Hogan vs Flair was so bad (chemistry and politics wise) that the WWF went on with two separate main events at that year's Wrestlemania.

Pintint 05-16-2012 10:09 PM

Of course I would. Rock is still leagues more entertaining than most top WWE guys these days and Austin is up there as well. These two guys are legends, and I am sure could still pull out a decent match. Rock of course can, I dont know about Austin.

Nicky Fives 05-16-2012 10:48 PM

you are an idiot if you would not..... I'd prefer Austin/Punk, but Rock/Austin IV at Mania would be a hell of a consolation.....

Innovator 05-16-2012 10:58 PM

One last time? Fuck yes.

Emperor Smeat 05-16-2012 11:49 PM

Yes especially if it was a one-time event like an "Attitude One Night Stand" similar to the first WWE produced ECW ppv. Rock already showed he still can wrestle and is in shape while Austin might need some time to get back to ring-ready status.

Would be an issue if it becomes like TNA's situation where they are hogging up the spotlight and making the entire company revolve around their storyline either to satisfy their egos or them being dumb enough to think their feud will solve all the big problems TNA has.

Curd 05-17-2012 12:23 AM

The psychology behind Rock vs. Austin and Hogan vs. Flair never goes out of style.

Well, it would fit within the purview of Punk's one trick.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-17-2012 12:33 AM

There's a huge difference between Rock/Austin and Hogan/Flair. Rock/Austin made money and Hogan/Flair didn't. Hogan and Flair just didn't draw what Rock/Austin did.

Yes, I would watch Rock/Austin but no I would not watch Flair/Hogan. They are not the same at all. Austin/Rock had unbelievable in ring chemistry which just wasn't there for Hogan/Flair.

Hogan and Flairs best moments were when they weren't even in the same company. The what if factor was way stronger before they stepped into the ring in 1994.

Keith 05-17-2012 01:31 AM

Definitely. Stone Cold and The Rock could just decide to wrestle each other next Monday and they'd have an awesome match. They're made for each other, much like Bret/Shawn. There are some wrestlers that just work great together.

dronepool 05-17-2012 03:40 AM

As long Austin gives the middle finger, calls somebody a jackass and "dumb-son'ov-ah bitch" accompanied by a stunner and beer- I will be amused.

Corporate CockSnogger 05-17-2012 03:47 AM

No, I would stick my fingers in my ears and "la-la-la" as loud as I could until the next match.

Rammsteinmad 05-17-2012 08:06 AM

I would say yes, but only if it doesn't bump the WWE Champion from PPV main-event spots again.

So you wouldn't watch if it did?

Kapoutman 05-17-2012 12:56 PM

I would watch it, no matter the circumstances.

whiteyford 05-17-2012 01:02 PM

Two guys in their 40s or two guys in their 60s,not much of a difference really. Think like others have said,as a one off special attraction type deal it would work, both guys are smart enough to make it work with their limitations and the atmosphere would be amazing, enough to make it seem better than it is if done right.

Well, I'd watch it regardless.

But if CM Punk (y'know, the WWE CHAMPION) was bumped from the most important storyline for it, I'd kinda feel like :-\

Rock Bottom 05-17-2012 02:26 PM

I want to say yes but I am too afraid of the score being 3-1 Austin at WM. I'll stick with 2-1. Rock looked strong last time.

That being said, we're never gonna see this match again. Don't think either of them would think of it as a good idea. Onnnnnnnnnnnn the other hand...

A tag match with these two is always possible somewhere down the road. It'd be pretty easy for some newer tag team/faction guys to disrespect one of them, and be challenged to find a "partner of their choosing." I think that'd be the best way to put Rock and Austin in the same ring again, aside from a special referee/enforcer role for Austin. Rock could take a few bumps and get Austin a hot tag.

Stunner into a Rock Bottom always looked neat.

XCaliber 05-17-2012 11:39 PM

Sure but only if Austin whips himself into shape enough to at least be near The Rock's level of conditioning otherwise the match would blow.

From stuff I've seen of him recently he looks to be a lot leaner than he was in his wrestling days. But he probably started a better diet or something because his knees are complete shitte.

The match would have to rely on complete ring psychology which both men are masters of.

So yeah, I'd like to see it one more time, but if it never happens again I wouldnt be bummed out or anything.

Big Vic 05-18-2012 09:59 AM

The is no way Rock vs Austin now would not be a main event, what you think they are going to be the opener on superstars? [/dickcomment]

Rammsteinmad 05-18-2012 10:09 AM

NXT, actually.

Ruien 05-18-2012 03:36 PM

Who would not want to see The Rock vs Stone Cold right now? But in 15 years from now I would have no interested. Just like I have no interest in Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair.

Nah man fuck this, but Austin/Lesnar, Austin/Punk etc would be good shit.

Also Rock v Shawn Michaels.

But not Austin/Rock again.

Steve Austin is very much in shape nowadays. He walks around ripped. I'm sure he's in the best shape of his life right now.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-19-2012 06:55 AM

His neck would probably disagree.
