New Child's Play Sequel
Chucky lives. The world’s most famous killer doll hasn’t been seen since 2004, but he’s set to return in the upcoming Curse of Chucky.
As reported by Moviehole, Curse will be a made for DVD sequel from Universal Home Entertainment. Fans may be wary of the series being demoted from a theatrical run, but the good news is Chucky is still going to be in familiar hands. Don Mancini, who has written every single film in the series since it began in 1988 (and directed Seed of Chucky), will once again write and direct. And yes, Brad Dourif will return to voice the iconic character. This installment sounds very self-contained. Chucky’s family, Tiffany and Glen, have been left behind, with Moviehole saying, “the film completely skips over the last couple of sequels, essentially taking place after Child’s Play 3.” It’s not clear how literal we should take the "skipping over the last couple of sequels" thing though and I’m curious to see what design for Chucky they go with – his original look, or the stitched-together, Frankenstein-style he sported in Bride and Seed. http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/...uckyInline.jpg Non-stitchy Chucky or Stitchy Chucky: Which do you prefer? This is an important issue, people! Moviehole describes Curse of Chucky’s plot in the following way: Chucky arrives to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier. Moviehole also says that Curse won’t be nearly as comedic as the series became with Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, and that while humor will be included, there will be, “a lot more emphasis here on making the series scary again.” There has been talk of a straight up reboot of the Child’s Play / Chucky series for years (also involving Mancini and Dourif), but that has remained on the backburner. No release date has been set yet for Curse of Chucky, which will begin production in September in Winnipeg, Canada. credit - ign.com |
Have Chucky finally kill Andy.
Andy is easily in his 40's or 50's by now so that wouldn't be too hard.
if they're skipping the last few sequels then hopefully it wont' be the "comedy" chucky anymore
Frankly, I think it works better as a comedy.
Was never scared of the chucky movies. He's a fucking doll. Punt the bastard into a wood chipper or something. |
Cool news.
Opening scene have him kill Andy in a memorable death. Start credits..ill be all in.
Have never seen any of these movies.
I would be very interested if this indeed picks up right after #3.

I saw some parts here and there.. Remember a closet scene and another at a theme park but that is about it.
Guys... he never wanted to kill Andy, he needed a new body. At this point if he's nursing a grudge then yeah.
And this seems to be a pseudo-prequel if it's taking place after 3 but before the comedic (more fitting) Chucky movies. |
I never watched them in order, or probably haven't seen them all, but they are always good for a slash flick.
2 is still the best one.
Hate to be cliche but part 1 is a classic.
Yea, the head on the mantle, body grabbing from the fireplace bit was quite amazing.
Child's Play 2 was one of the first horror movies I ever watched. I still have a Chucky doll in my bedroom back home. I wouldn't mind a remake, but they'd probably just fuck it up.
I've watched all five films when it came out in theaters. Seeing Chucky on the big screen is awesome.
great scene in #2

That yard stick killing is indeed an awesome scene.
that part in the third one where he hides under the bed and cuts andy's ankle with a knife fucked me up for years

If they reboot it as straight horror with minimal comedy, ala the first couple movies, then I am on board.
The voodoo kill in the first one stuck in my head for awhile
