For those of you who hated Swog as the Anonomous GM

How would you have booked it? I saw it as pretty much a dead end were you expecting more? Let me know.

loopydate 07-17-2012 10:30 PM

After all that time, I'd have just left it dropped.

But it should have been Nash when he returned last summer.

Shadrick 07-17-2012 10:30 PM

Had they not abandoned it when they did, the payoff could have been pretty amazing. When you abandon it for such a long time, people stop caring, and the payoff can be shitty and we'll be expecting it because obviously it stopped being a priority creatively.

And once I saw the podium for the first time in a while, I literally said "This is gonna be a fucking cop out." and I was correct.

Keith 07-17-2012 10:35 PM

I would've left it alone.

That would have been cool, even if they did it as a one of last week I would have liked that.

Reveals toward longer story arcs:

- Linda McMahon
- Shane McMahon
- Eric Bishoff
- William Reagal

'Cop out', comedic reveals:

- President Obama
- A WWE fan who's a basement hacker who only meant well, and apologizes to the fans while making a final main event.
- Vince McMahon, who then blames it on 'sleep texting'.
- The Hurricane

Huh?

Swish 07-17-2012 11:01 PM

I was actually hoping it would have bee HBK!!!.

I mean he always had a neck for making jokes, and mocking other wrestlers.
specially with their catchphrases. I really don't think Swog was the actual reveal.

Was fine with Swog being the gm. At that point it was just the comedy part of the show anyways. If they had someone like Nask, HBK, Foley, etc it would have had to been played out.

Basically, the WWE gave us something to fill the void in the show and their product. Unlike when the briefcase floated in the air on Stone Cold.

Ruien 07-17-2012 11:09 PM

The only other way I could have seen it ending was with Cole being the gm. That would have been nice because they could have ended it that night and had it not be a comedy stunt.

Have Santino discover how Cole has been making the computer buzz and then once he finds out Cole makes a match of Santino vs. Clay. They both refused and King gets up and throws Cole into the ring. Then proceed to King beating Cole up for all of the stuff he has pulled in recent weeks.

But I was okay with the way it was dealt with regardless.

I was asking about those "cop-out" moments that were listed. When the hell did any of those happen because I don't remember Vince "sleep-texting".

Ruien 07-17-2012 11:47 PM

I beleive those are his ideas for a way to end the angle.

James Steele 07-18-2012 12:02 AM

Aaah. They sounded realistic enough to have happened.

Which really tells what kind of product we're dealing with right now.

The kind good enough to watch all the time, but bad enough to complain constantly about?

Jordan 07-18-2012 12:15 AM

Whatever, it's so over, and it was funny.

I don't watch every week and I rarely complain.

That's why I wasn't as upset about it as everyone else was. The angle was dead in my mind. I was over the fact that it was just a poorly executed idea. Bringing it back just to reveal Hornswoggle as the guy didn't exactly ruin it. It was just like any other WWE comedy angle at that point.

The MAC 07-18-2012 04:04 AM

can anyone remember if hornswoggle was ever in the ring the same time a message from the anon. gm came through?

Nicky Fives 07-18-2012 05:47 AM

Howard Finkel

I did a half-hearted search for inconsistencies after it happened. Didn't find anything of note. Apparently Hornswoggle likes being a dick for no reason though and is most certainly a heel.

#1-norm-fan 07-18-2012 07:25 AM

Hornwoggle is responsible for Edge being traded from Raw to Smackdown and actually had a pretty heated feud with him a couple years ago. Think about it.

Or don't.

Ultra Mantis 07-18-2012 08:30 AM

Johnny Curtis.

Gass 07-18-2012 10:56 AM

Could've just been a short-term thing with one of the 'legends.'

Sign HBK or Piper to a one-month deal, have him do a few RAWs then leave.

Leaves shit explained enough not to be retarded.

Damn right!

Frank Drebin 07-18-2012 12:25 PM

I would have liked to have seen the writers take a cue from "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss" and had the GM be the same as the real boss:
<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Phv2IJDnny4?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Phv2IJDnny4?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

And as for how he was able to write all those emails:
<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JcSUWP0QNeY?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JcSUWP0QNeY?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

Most of the time the Anonymous GM seemed to side with heels so they could have revealed it a lot earlier to be John Laurinaitis before he officially took over the job.

He was always on his phone sending text messages so it wouldn't be that hard to make the assumption he's sending the text messages to Cole.

Once Laurinaitis lost his job, it would have ended the Anonymous GM storyline.

KyleEmmott 07-18-2012 04:37 PM

It's not that I don't like Hornswoggle being the Anon. GM, I just wish it was somebody more meaningful. Looking back at all the decisions made by the GM at the time just kind of seem like a joke now because it was made by a "Leprechaun". I also wish they would've unveiled the person in a more serious matter.

A lot of people were bitching that it was hornswoggle though That Raw was obviously going to be a dead end. I don't think if "Wrestler X" said "I was the GM" it would help him much.

CSL 07-18-2012 05:29 PM

if it had been revealed as Hornswoggle during the angle itself then it would have been a bit "c'mon son" but by the time it actually was, it just didn't matter

XL 07-18-2012 06:39 PM

CSL, on the money.

whiteyford 07-19-2012 05:12 PM

At the end of the day the angle was long dead already, it was just a throw away comedy bit, but if the ever decided to revisit it then its not that hard to play it off as a joke, really hope they don't though unless there's an actual planned pay off. As it dragged on, unless it was someone like Shane or the Ultimate Warrior it was always going to be regarded as a shitty ending.

crusnik 07-21-2012 08:31 PM

At least the angle was bloody over n done with ,they buried it for too long.

Pintint 07-21-2012 08:34 PM

I would've had it be X-Pac.

parkmania 07-21-2012 08:55 PM

If they would have made it be a two-week reveal instead of just one (they didn't have a GM last week and the new "permanent" GM is supposed to be revealed at Raw1K) I would have liked for them to call in a known C- to D-list actor who has publicly expressed a desire to work with WWE:

Dennis "Mr. Belding" Haskins.

It would have been much better if they had played out the GM reveal properly. Could even have used Heyman for it.

Base on everything associated with the entire angle over the years, I think the angle was originally meant for Stephanie McMahon Helmsley. However - her commitment to her children and family probably prevented the WWE from allowing her to engage in that role.

I think Stephanie should have and would have been the logical choice.
