Hogan is going to the Hall of Fame, brother. He is wrestling.

Keith 07-19-2012 02:32 AM

Hulk Hogan definitely is the face of professional wrestling.

Even people who are not fans of pro wrestling know who Hulk Hogan is.

You ask a "non-fan" to name you any wrestler they've heard of, and 9/10 they'll name Hogan.

Tazz Dan 07-19-2012 03:18 AM

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a bit of a Jeff Hardy mark, but Hogan every day of the week.

K.Smoke 07-19-2012 03:56 AM

I'm a jeff Fan but despite the many dumb things i've said, to put Jeff Hardy over Hogan is just taking it too far.

Joesgonnakillyou 07-19-2012 04:36 AM

Wrestling fans on a wrestling board voting for Hogan is like music fans on a music board voting for Britney Spears.

it's actually a little depressing.

It's more like music fans on a music board voting for John Denver. Sure, he's vintage, he defined an era, and he's still a crossover name, but....

Yeah c'mon dude, Hogan is the reason we have a wrestling board. Wrestling fans comparing Hulk Hogan to Britney Spears on a wrestling board obviously aren't wrestling fans.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-19-2012 06:41 AM

Loved Hardy when I was a teenager cause he was "cool". Enjoyed his title run on Smackdown a few years back too and his feud with Punk, but still I'd kinda forgotten about him. Pretty impossible to forget about Hogan.

Agreeing with STD here

Haze 07-19-2012 08:54 AM

Voting for Hogan simply because I can't stand Hardy.

Wrong, so, so, wrong. Hulk Hogan is the Elvis of rasslin. The Britney of rasslin is clearly Goldberg. Everyone knows that, duh!

MVP 07-19-2012 10:36 AM

Hogan belongs in the HOF regardless of how you feel about him. He made wrestling mainstream.

technically about 30 yrs before that Gorgeous George mainstreamed it

This flamboyant image and his showman's ability to work a crowd were so successful in the early days of television that he became the most famous wrestler of his time, drawing furious heel heat wherever he appeared.

It was with the advent of television, however, that George’s character exploded into the biggest drawing card the industry had ever known. With the networks looking for cheap but effective programming to fill its time slots, pro wrestling’s glorified action became a genuine “hit” with the viewing public, as it was the first program of any kind to draw a real profit. Consequently, it was Gorgeous George who brought the sport into the nation’s living rooms, as his histrionics and melodramatic behavior made him a larger-than-life figure in American pop-culture. His first television appearance took place on November 11, 1947 (an event that was recently named among the top 100 televised acts of the 20th century by Entertainment Weekly) and he immediately became a national celebrity at the same level of Lucille Ball and Bob Hope (who personally donated hundreds of chic robes for George’s collection) while changing the course of the industry forever. No longer was pro wrestling simply about the in-ring action, but George had created a new sense of theatrics and character performance that had not previously existed. Moreover, in a very real sense, it was Gorgeous George who single-handedly established television as a viable entertainment medium that could potentially reach millions of homes across the country (in fact, it is said that George was probably responsible for selling as many TV sets as Milton Berle).

HOLY CRAP! We have 15 in the Hall!

XCaliber 07-19-2012 11:59 AM

What makes Jeff stand out is that he's a very unorthadox talent but outside of that he never even came even close to making the impact Hogan did so my vote once again goes to the Hulkster.

MoFo 07-19-2012 12:25 PM

Voted for Hogan but Jeff is one of the most exciting wrasslers ever no doubt.

Joesgonnakillyou 07-19-2012 12:49 PM

Alright, Britney was a bit harsh and i'm sure you've had this debate before so i'll keep it short but...

Hogan only had qualities to make him successful and yeah, he was extremely successful but i dunno, surely as people who post on message boards we should appreciating other aspects of the game? If we don't no one will!

To refine the music metephor, I'd say Hogan is Phil Collins. Big seller in the 80s, couple of good singles but unlikely to appear on obsessive music fans top ten album lists.

I'm quite sure Phil Collins wouldn't be the first person 99% of people would think of when they think of music. Hulk Hogan is that for wrestling. Although they both did have great matches with Ultimate Warrior.

I'll take any excuse to listen to that song really.

If nothing else, i'm glad i set in motion a chain of events that lead to me seeing Phil Collins put in a boston crab by the Ultimate Warrior

Lock Jaw 07-19-2012 01:11 PM

Hogan wins this round easily. Have no desire to see Hogan take the last spot in the HoF when there are more deserFLAIRving names still out there.

CSL 07-19-2012 01:13 PM

these things happen when people vote Tazz in

Corporate CockSnogger 07-19-2012 01:14 PM

YeaHHH, athougHHH I do kinda want HHHogan in tHHHe HHHall of Fame, tHHHere's a couple of otHHHer guys I'd ratHHHer were in it.

Billy Gunn

Lock Jaw 07-19-2012 01:16 PM

Still pissed about Tazz being in there. Only thing more unbearable would be if RVD was in there.

CSL 07-19-2012 01:16 PM

really struggling to find the Billy Gunn reference in that post, must be hidden in some variety of dastardly code

if anything, it's pretty fitting in terms of showing how fickle internet wrestling fans are. If a Triple H vs. Tazz round came up nowadays, Triple H would steamroll it

Love Taz so fuck all of you, well hugs maybe since i don't feel that strongly really.

Shisen Kopf 07-19-2012 01:23 PM

I think the Phil Collins of rasslin is Bret Hart. Made it big as part of a group but made it even bigger as a solo act.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-19-2012 01:28 PM

I hope Phil Collins is up next for Hogan.

Yes sir... I may not be a fan of Hogan now... But c'mon... The character that he and Vince built MADE wrestling what it is today... AND THEN the NWO came along... I am surprised he wasn't in the HOF already...

RiX1024 07-19-2012 03:19 PM

Hogan by far.

Emperor Smeat 07-19-2012 03:21 PM

Hogan.

Had better promo abilities than Hardy to the point of being able to sell a feud or ppv just from words alone. In terms of characters, nothing Hardy has can match either the Hulkamania or Hollywood characters Hogan had. Hardy had some amazing moments but Hogan had a ton of them.

Although Hardy does have better wrestling skills overall due to being a high flyer and was involved in some of the best tag team feuds in the WWE's history.

Curd 07-19-2012 06:16 PM

Unless Vince Russo is booking this poll, Hogan wins after selling some token Hardy offense, ultimately turning Jeff's Goth chick fans into avowed red-and-yellow Hulkamaniacs in the process.

KaosDarksol 07-20-2012 12:16 AM

Won't vote for hogan even though I know he will win

James Steele 07-20-2012 02:22 AM

Son of a bitch, you found someone I would vote Hulk Hogan over. While Hogan is a horrible human being and a worthless wrestler, he can make shit interesting (even now) and has enough respect for the business to not show up for a main event match fucked up.

The Hardyz/E&C/Dudley feud were some of my favorite matches from the Attitude Era, I enjoyed some of Jeff's solo work as well, but Jeff crashed and burned, and he only has himself to blame.

Don't care for Hogan, but he has Jeff beat here.
