Hulk Hogan definitely is the face of professional wrestling.

Even people who are not fans of pro wrestling know who Hulk Hogan is.

You ask a "non-fan" to name you any wrestler they've heard of, and 9/10 they'll name Hogan.

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a bit of a Jeff Hardy mark, but Hogan every day of the week.

Loved Hardy when I was a teenager cause he was "cool". Enjoyed his title run on Smackdown a few years back too and his feud with Punk, but still I'd kinda forgotten about him. Pretty impossible to forget about Hogan.

His first television appearance took place on November 11, 1947 (an event that was recently named among the top 100 televised acts of the 20th century by Entertainment Weekly) and he immediately became a national celebrity at the same level of Lucille Ball and Bob Hope (who personally donated hundreds of chic robes for George’s collection) while changing the course of the industry forever. No longer was pro wrestling simply about the in-ring action, but George had created a new sense of theatrics and character performance that had not previously existed. Moreover, in a very real sense, it was Gorgeous George who single-handedly established television as a viable entertainment medium that could potentially reach millions of homes across the country (in fact, it is said that George was probably responsible for selling as many TV sets as Milton Berle).

What makes Jeff stand out is that he's a very unorthadox talent but outside of that he never even came even close to making the impact Hogan did so my vote once again goes to the Hulkster.

Voted for Hogan but Jeff is one of the most exciting wrasslers ever no doubt.

Hogan only had qualities to make him successful and yeah, he was extremely successful but i dunno, surely as people who post on message boards we should appreciating other aspects of the game? If we don't no one will!

To refine the music metephor, I'd say Hogan is Phil Collins. Big seller in the 80s, couple of good singles but unlikely to appear on obsessive music fans top ten album lists.

I'm quite sure Phil Collins wouldn't be the first person 99% of people would think of when they think of music. Hulk Hogan is that for wrestling. Although they both did have great matches with Ultimate Warrior.

Had better promo abilities than Hardy to the point of being able to sell a feud or ppv just from words alone. In terms of characters, nothing Hardy has can match either the Hulkamania or Hollywood characters Hogan had. Hardy had some amazing moments but Hogan had a ton of them.

Although Hardy does have better wrestling skills overall due to being a high flyer and was involved in some of the best tag team feuds in the WWE's history.

Unless Vince Russo is booking this poll, Hogan wins after selling some token Hardy offense, ultimately turning Jeff's Goth chick fans into avowed red-and-yellow Hulkamaniacs in the process.

Son of a bitch, you found someone I would vote Hulk Hogan over. While Hogan is a horrible human being and a worthless wrestler, he can make shit interesting (even now) and has enough respect for the business to not show up for a main event match fucked up.

The Hardyz/E&C/Dudley feud were some of my favorite matches from the Attitude Era, I enjoyed some of Jeff's solo work as well, but Jeff crashed and burned, and he only has himself to blame.

Don't care for Hogan, but he has Jeff beat here.
