Nowhere Man 07-19-2012 06:00 AM

Okay, that was awesome.

Skippord 07-19-2012 08:32 AM

yeah that was pretty fucking rad

Dark-Slicer Diago 07-19-2012 09:58 AM

Fucking AMAZING, hope it leads to another movie.

RP 07-19-2012 10:38 AM

Apparently, Thomas Jane funded that himself? I think that's what I read.

DaveBrawl 07-19-2012 08:32 PM

Amazing.

Hanso Amore 07-19-2012 08:52 PM

FUck me running.

I liked him as the Punisher.

Travolta as the villian was meh.

Kalyx triaD 07-19-2012 09:02 PM

Jane funded it himself. He loves the character that much. I hope he gets another shot with a big movie, done by Marvel/Disney.

This version of Castle must meet Fury and Cap.

Emperor Smeat 07-19-2012 09:15 PM

Yeah he mentioned a few times in the past that playing the Punisher was the most fun he ever had.

I think a contract dispute was the main reason he didn't play the character in Warzone although the change in tone to a different Punisher type might have been another reason.

Lock Jaw 07-19-2012 09:24 PM

Never saw any of The Punisher films.

That was alright.

JimmyMess 07-19-2012 09:25 PM

Yeah this was pretty cool

He dropped out because it was taking too long to get a good script done if I remember right.

You honkeys need to rep me for this. This shit ain't free!

Nah, its free.

The Destroyer 07-20-2012 04:30 PM

That was great. Hope he paid for the rights to the music though. :'(

Innovator 07-20-2012 04:57 PM

I want more.

Fignuts 07-25-2012 04:18 PM

That was pretty awesome.

I liked Ray Stevens better as punisher though. Feel like he captured the character perfectly.

Jane's version just doesn't seem psychotic enough to me.

Fignuts 07-25-2012 04:20 PM

Also, lol at the cocept of a Punisher movie done by Disney.

Disney does own Miramax. Can't it be put out by Marvel/ Studios/Miramax and have it rated R?

Kalyx triaD 07-26-2012 01:15 AM

The Dark Knight shows you can get pretty dark on PG13, though I understand the fear of nerfing a guy like Castle. Deadpool can go R or PG13, Castle's a debate.

Emperor Smeat 07-26-2012 01:43 AM

Remove some of the gore type moments from Jane's Punisher (ex. seeing the arrow in guy's neck) and it could have been a PG-13 film without really impacting it that much. Maybe a few swears as well since I forgot how many are allowed before a PG-13 changes to an R.

It all depends what type of Punisher Marvel feels like having since Stevens and the original film with Lundgren was meant to show how brutal the Punisher can be in action while Jane's was more about his mental and overall story development.

Disturbed316 07-26-2012 06:39 AM

Really like Jane as Punisher, I think they could have got a couple more films from his version. I wonder if that short was associated with Marvel or had their blessing?

Kalyx triaD 07-26-2012 08:05 AM

Nope, a fan-film. Anybody can do it really.

The Destroyer 07-26-2012 06:22 PM

Yeah, long as you don't call it The Punisher or use any trademark infringing stuff, you're fine.

Kalyx triaD 07-30-2012 12:34 AM

Had this on my mind for a while now...

Does Thomas Jane remind anybody else of Aaron Eckhart?

What about that logo at the end?

The Destroyer 07-30-2012 04:59 AM

I actually think it was very slightly different from the Punisher skull. It doesn't usually have gaps in the eye socket like that one did.

Kalyx triaD 07-30-2012 06:06 AM

Nah, that was an official Punisher shirt. Almost purchased it years ago.

You can use the logo and the name, usually. You can go pretty far so long as it's not for profit and the owners are okay with it. Some companies will cease and desist your ass at first sign of your project (Nintendo is notorious for this). Other companies let entire fan films go on (DC is surprisingly cool about it, Capcom will even promote your work).

It's case by case but usually it's all good. Because Jane is a movie star who could get work from this (even by Marvel Studios or whoever owns movie Punisher right now), he couldn't call it Punisher or even utter "Frank Castle". Then again, perhaps he wanted to call it Dirty Laundry. Maybe Marvel approved it from the start. We don't know for sure.
