Jeff Jarrett

I have never, in my nearly 30 years of watching wrestling, cared one bit for ANY of Jeff Jarretts work, angles, or promos. I find him obvious and sometimes to the point of getting angry that I even have the TV turned on. I would rather watch a gilberg match.

So here is my question and reason for post:

I wish someone could show me something Jeff Jarrett did that is considered his best work in case I somehow over looked it.

Juan 07-20-2012 12:47 AM

Only time I really enjoyed/not minded Jeff Jarrett was in his tag team with Owen Hart.

Supreme Olajuwon 07-20-2012 12:48 AM

I liked his mid card days in the WWF. His team with Owen Hart was good. Never took him seriously as a main eventer in WCW though.

The only time I cared about Jeff Jarrett was when he'd come out dressed like this:

Was that the time he had all the lights on himself and fought road dogg?

Curd 07-20-2012 02:02 AM

Jarrett was over huge in USWA, especially when feuding with Jerry Lawler in the mid 1990s. As with other NWA stars signed by the then-WWF, WWE essentially killed Jarrett's heat by repacking him into an obnoxious character.

I really think that with his "Don't p*ss me off" gimmick and the accompanying t-shirt, Attitude-Era Jarrett could have been the second "working man's" antihero after Stone Cold (if not for the badly booked misogynistic angle they thrust him into to put over Chyna when it was decided that Chyna should not win the WWE World Title and hence should defeat the IC Champ instead -- not to mention his holding out for more money before the 1999 No Mercy PPV, thereby preventing subsequent stints in the WWE).

James Steele 07-20-2012 02:26 AM

I will say this: Jeff Jarrett is "good" in every aspect of pro wrestling, but he isn't "great" at anything and has nothing about him that makes him a main event must-see superstar. This explains why he is an amazing IC/US Champion type guy and occasional main event tease but never taken seriously as a legitimate main event star/draw.

Keith 07-20-2012 02:45 AM

I will also say that Jeff Jarrett should never have been WCW Champion.

Lock Jaw 07-20-2012 02:51 AM

I enjoyed Jarrett's main event run in WCW, with his whole "slapnuts" deal. I remember absolutely nothing of it now, but I remember enjoying it well enough.

This.

He's a good hand in the ring, a decent talker, had a decent look. A good second tier guy. Not a top guy. They tried it in WCW, and how well is WCW doing? Exactly.

Hence why I always said "Any promotion built around Jeff Jarrett deserves to fail."

Razzamajazz 07-20-2012 04:47 AM

wasn't it him and debra together when the whole "puppies" thing started? if so, then that

Keith 07-20-2012 05:24 AM

Come to think of it, my favorite Jeff Jarrett moment was when he broke a guitar over Gary Coleman's head.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 06:15 AM

Was one of the first heels that I really liked when I was younger during his WWF run, and then I loved him in WCW.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 06:19 AM

Also the guitar is probably one of my favourite weapons in wrestling. Looks great every time.

Keith 07-20-2012 06:39 AM

Jeff Jarrett main eventing, and being Champion, helped kill WCW.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 06:40 AM

Looks like we got a slapnut over here.

Shadrick 07-20-2012 07:31 AM

I've never been a fan of Jeff Jarrett.

Feed me! 07-20-2012 10:10 AM

They should bring jj in for ryback to squash, would be awesome. Wooooo!

Big Vic 07-20-2012 10:21 AM

Jeff Jarret should never been a world champ in any organization.

YOUR Hero 07-20-2012 10:27 AM

He waas ok, had some pretty entertining moments with Owen and the Double J thing when he first came out was good.

Kapoutman 07-20-2012 10:48 AM

Chalk me up as another fan of the Owen/Jarrett combo. Outside of that, he was decent in the ring, just never spectacular. He could have good matches with the right opponent. I remember an In Your House match against Shawn Michaels that was pretty exciting.

itsmeJD 07-20-2012 10:49 AM

"Be my baby tonight" was obviously the correct answer here....Jesse James lip synched that shit to hide Jeff's true singing ability.

Gass 07-20-2012 11:05 AM

Hate Jarrett, always have. Just found him to be average in the ring, and annoying (and not in a "haha, he's supposed to be" way) on the mic.

CSL 07-20-2012 12:46 PM

about 18 months ago, Jarrett was the most entertaining heel in wrestling

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 12:51 PM

Was he still calling people slapnuts?

CSL 07-20-2012 01:00 PM

nawwwww

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 01:06 PM

Still hitting people with guitars at least? :'(

Corporate CockSnogger 07-20-2012 01:08 PM

Link me to some good stuff he did if you get the time please. I might declare myself TPWW's #1 Jeff Jarrett fan if there's no other takers.

Come on now, brah.

CSL 07-20-2012 01:26 PM

were you watching TNA 18 months ago?

Supreme Olajuwon 07-20-2012 01:35 PM

Oh yeah I forgot about the feud with Angle. That was good stuff. And I'm super dumb because I was actually at Lockdown when they had their 2 out of 3 falls match which stole the show.

SPOILER: show

Jeff Jarrett - MMA Fighter (towards the end of his feud with Samoa Joe based around "shoot fighting" etc featuring the Double J Double M A Challenge)

which evolved into a feud with Angle (Angle's wrestling/non-starting MMA past, being married to Karen, banned Kurt from seeing his kids etc)

grabbed these from the TNA Youtube channel quickly, probably more stuff knocking around and this lot doesn't really do it justice, lot's of "little things" on various Impacts and PPV's. The One Big Happy Family skits with Kurt's kids, framed pictures of Jarrett breaking guitars over Angle's head etc are great.

I didn't even watch TNA last night.

But regardless, no one ever said "Let me tune into WWF (or WCW, or TNA), 'cause I want to see what Jeff Jarrett does next".

CSL 07-20-2012 04:15 PM

watertight argument

Keith 07-20-2012 04:17 PM

Oh, you mean when Jeff Jarrett all of a sudden became a Mixed Martial Artist and was doing MMA challenges?

That was quality tv right there, yo.

CSL 07-20-2012 04:23 PM

another brilliant and informative response

I didnt sell out, I bought in!!
Him joining Immortal was a fantastic storyline at the time

CSL 07-20-2012 04:32 PM

lol that was Hardy

who was great at that time too though, probably the most interesting he's ever been from a character p.o.v

Emperor Smeat 07-20-2012 04:39 PM

Liked most of his work when it wasn't main event scene stuff but did tolerate him a bit more in the main event of TNA than in WCW. His stuff with Owen might have been the best stuff he's done in either WWE or WCW.

Him being a dominate heel in TNA wasn't that bad but him hogging the belt mimicking what Triple H was doing on RAW didn't help at all.

Didn't like anything he did in WCW since WCW already had enough big names for the main event scene and their developing stars were a lot more enjoyable than him in the main event.
