I am on a serious grunge fix right now

I watched Pearl Jam 20, which was fucking excellent. I'm going to buy it. Then I watched the making of Nirvana - Nevermind. I've relistened to the entire AIC discography and tonight I've listened to Temple Of The Dog and Mad Season- Above, atleast twice each. I need more input.

RP 08-03-2012 03:35 AM

McCready's solo on Reach Down has giving me an erection that I may need to seek medical attention for.

RoXer 08-03-2012 05:20 AM

Might go listen to Times of Trouble

RP 08-03-2012 06:06 AM

Last thing I need is STP. But here it goes. Just put Purple in.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2012 06:18 AM

I have never really cared for them but (if you haven't already) check out Mudhoney.

whiteyford 08-03-2012 06:34 AM

Can't go wrong with Soundgardens Superunknown

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2012 07:26 AM

Whiteyford speaks the truth.

Did they come out in the early 90's? If not, I'm probably not interested.

They are lumped in with the grunge movement of the early 90's, so go for it. :y:

The Destroyer 08-03-2012 02:28 PM

I do like a bit of grunge. Although I've never been huge on Pearl Jam.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2012 03:21 PM

I always found Pearl Jam to be a poor man's Soundgarden, but I have come to appreciate their Ten album over the years, mainly because Jeremy and Even flow are bad ass songs. But I have never really felt compelled to check out any of their other albums. I remember listening to my sister's copies of Vs. and Vitology 12-15 years ago, but can't say they left an impression upon me.

Oh, RP, you should check out the following albums:

Bikini Kill - Pussy Whipped
Babes of Toyland - Fontanelle
Hole - Live Through This (yes, Courtney Love is bat shit crazy and an irritant, but that is one tasty record, as is their first album Pretty on the Inside)

Even though they are not "grunge" bands, you should be listening to the late 80's early 90's albums of Husker Du (New Day Rising is tasty) and Sonic Youth (Daydream Nation is awesome).

Oh, and The Replacements' Let it Be and Tim. Again, not a grunge band, but alternative punky rock goodness.

whiteyford 08-03-2012 03:27 PM

Thats the only Hole album I own, even with the internets ability to get free music.

Pretty on the Inside is pretty damn raw compared to Live Through This, and especially Celebrity Skin, but PotI is pretty good.

I just loaded my iPhone with a shitload of STP, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Local H for a road trip to the inlaws, found out they are coming down to us, turned back around, saw this thread, seeing faith restored in humanity, good shit.

Love Live, got pretty much everything they've ever done.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2012 04:42 PM

I have never heard of Local H before; I quite like them. From that song posted, their sound seems to be a mash of Smashing Pumpkins, Failure, and Nirvana.

whiteyford 08-03-2012 04:44 PM

Got the Pumpkins playing in the background, I feel so old.

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-03-2012 04:47 PM

Clearly, this is the thread where all the cool people are at.

whiteyford 08-03-2012 04:48 PM

Gonna download some Local H I think.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-03-2012 04:49 PM

I like the Soundgarden song at the end of Avengers too

Throwing Copper is legendary, Secret Samadhi is awesome, more dark themed.

1979 is a good song to relax to.

I first heard that song I posted on the radio, and still remember to this day how fast I threw a cassette tape in the stereo to record it and mowed some lawns to get their album.

90's music triggers good memories in my head.

1st song of theirs I heard was Dolphins Cry, acoustic version's actually quite good too.

Love Disarm, keep hearing it on the radio surprisingly.

Got 2 albums set to download.

One gem on Throwing Copper, didn't get play on the radio back in the day due to it's name, Shit Towne. Great song about crappy neighbors and town they grew up in. Just found a live clip of them performing it.
