What team should I be a fan of?
 

So the closest I've come to being a fan of a sports team was with the Saints and that was only because of how much my father loved them.

So, I've decided to follow a team of any sport that you guys choose to follow and put all my emotions into. Seriously don't care at all if they're any good, I'll learn their history, try to watch their games and totally bitch when they lose or trade players.

Just make a good case as to why I should follow a team and watch their sport and I'll follow whomever does the best job of that.

Be a Jags fan. Then there can be 2 of us here on TPWW. I mean, your wife did live here in Jacksonville and all. Makes logical sense.

I did too. It would be a credible thing being that I was raised in Jacksonville.

Be a Tamba Bay Rays fan.

It's a "David vs Goliath" type thing. It builds character and makes you understand that anything is possible in life!

And it's a Florida team too.

Well then there you go DTTS. The team looks much better than last year already so it wouldn't be a terrible choice. Not to mention, they're winning without their "star player."

Yeah. It just feels good to be a fan of low-budget team that regularly places ahead of, and beats, team with a much higher payroll.

They just got finished sweeping the Los Angeles Angels, the team that signed Albert Pujols for like $250 Million. They gave 'em a 4-game sweep. They're in 1st place in the Wild Card. In 2nd place in the AL East behind the Yankees.

How sweet is that?

Gosh guys, you're really tempting me to follow two teams of two different sports.

Is there a place online where I can watch the games? I don't think ESPN-ESPN30327 show football.

There's always streams online and I think Fox Sports plays a fair bit of football. Also I think they show a good number of Liverpool matches because the owners of Boston Red Sox bought us a couple of years ago and so there's now an American connection.

We're a once great team who have pretty much become a mid table average team over the past 3 seasons. Before FSG bought us we had dreadful owners that almost ran the club into the ground and we haven't been able to recover as of yet and are onto our 4th manager in as many years. We've still got a good number of great-world class players but within our squad we've also currently got a bunch of very average players too and since we haven't been able to offer Champions League football for the past few seasons we haven't been able to attract the top quality players from around the world.

We've curreently hired Brendan Rodgers as the manager who is very young and unproven at the top level and he's trying to initiate a new style of play throughout the team so it's all very much a "clean slate" kind of feel right now, which has given most fans a sense of optimism, although the fact he's unproven has given a number of people a sense of mediocrity acceptance. Also we had a nightmare of a first game of the season and a tough run of fixtures to follow so it's probably going to get worse before it gets better. Best fans in the world though :y:

One last thing before I leave for the day. Which ever team(s) I choose I am going to be obnoxious about them and totally act like I was there from day 1 and possibly might be a super-fan.

Ummmmm.... You should do what Soccer AM do to Americans. Get a random pick of all the teams in the leagues. However, it's hard to follow them all steam wise, so just do it with Premier League and pull one out of the hat.

I keep thinking I should have an NBA team to follow. I've been playing basketball since I was like 8 years old and never bothered to watch much NBA so I probably should at some point. It's always on too late here though.

Would be a great gimmick to be the oblivious European fan unknowingly watching delayed games every day and posting about them in real time.

Decision time: Lakers, Saints and I'll only pick a baseball team during the World Series and Liverpool FC whenever I talk to anyone from outside of America.

If I had seen this earlier, I would have tried to convince you to be a Browns fan. Saints are a terrible decision. It comes off as very bandwagon-like and you won't even get the positives out of it since they currently suck.

If you're going to go with the Saints, you should be going with the Hornets for basketball. Should definitely go with the Saints regardless if your Dad was a big fan. Where did you grow up?
