Nope try again.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2012 07:55 PM

I love Contra (I sneak in Hard Corps every once and a while) but Mega Man 2 was boss as hell. Nobody's making metal remixes to Contra stage 3.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2012 07:56 PM

Gonna be a dick and just say, "Donkey Kong Country 2" btw.

XCaliber 09-16-2012 08:37 PM

OH HELL NO!

Savio 09-17-2012 09:20 AM

You guys are out of your mind, brainwashed by the liberal media, each song on contra (except maybe the last) was a classic. Megaman Had Wileys first base theme, the intro, flash mans was pretty good, but the rest were forgettable. Megamans 3 soundtrack was better than 2s.

Ultra Mantis 09-17-2012 09:25 AM

No way, I don't think I could forget Wood Man's theme if I tried.

You've been sampling whatever drugs that Zeeboe is on.

Emperor Smeat 09-17-2012 01:12 PM

Mega Man 2's music was better overall although the entire classic series has some great themes for the robot masters.

In terms of Contra music, preferred Super C's soundtrack over the original.

OssMan 09-17-2012 05:57 PM

wtf you posted a metal remix, how i am sposto judge based on this

omg how are you listening to that and thinking it comes even remotely close to Megaman? To any Megaman game?

Fucking stage 4 and 7 don't even have their own songs. they just repeat stage 2 and 1 respectively.

Get the fuck outta here, savior.

Fignuts 09-17-2012 11:02 PM

Don't get me wrong. Konami produced some memorable songs back in the day, particularly for castlevania, but the quality wasn't really up to par with other devs.

I wouldn't put konami above sunsoft, let alone capcom in the music department.

Kalyx triaD 09-18-2012 12:16 AM

Everybody likes what they like but seriously, no contest here.

Kalyx triaD 09-18-2012 12:16 AM

And again; fucking Rareware.

I call bullshit. How is this even close? Contra had great music, but people don't really remember it... let alone remember it fondly like Megaman 2.

Also, Fignuts, Sunsoft was no fucking slouch. Capcom had the star power to get their games to the masses, but Sunsoft threw down some damn good tracks to their mostly more obscure titles... Batman not withstanding.

And speaking of, music wise, Batman whipped Contra's ass. Arguably, so did Journey To Silius. Doesn't stop it from being one of the greatest 2 player co-op romps of all time, but the music isn't even top ten. Top twenty, maybe.

But nowhere near any of the Rockman titles. Not even the "tried too hard" music from 10.

Fignuts 09-18-2012 03:37 AM

Yeah, didn't mean for that to sound like a dis on sunsoft, as their awesome music is well documented.

wwe2222 09-18-2012 10:12 AM

Looking at that cover makes me wish there was a Contra movie starring Stallone and Arnold in their primes.

Savio 09-18-2012 07:47 PM

MegaMan 2 reused level music too so you can't make that arguement.

I will agree that Megaman had more songs that were good but that's because it was a longer game. Percentage wise though Contra had better music.

1 Jungle Stage/Factory (good)
2 Base 1 + 2 (good)
3 Base Boss (good)
4 Waterfall (good)
5 Snow level (good)
6 That level with the computer looking things (good)
7 Alien board (ok)
6/7 = 85% Good
=================
Into (Good)
BubbleMan (Good)
MetalMan (Good)
WoodMan (Good)
CrashMan (Good)
AirMan (Good)
Heatman (ok)
Quickman (ok)
Flashman (ok)
Wily1 (good)
Wily2 (Ok)
Boss (Good)
8/12 = 66% Good

Thats a difference of 19%. Add that to Scott Stieners 66 and 2/3 chance....oh wait wrong topic

Fignuts 09-18-2012 08:24 PM

The first 2 stages in contra are good. The rest are generic and forgettable.

Also your arguement just lost what little credibility it had by saying quickman is only "ok".

Savio 09-18-2012 09:11 PM

I put (ok) next to all that weren't awesome, on both games

Also there is no way this isn't good:

Mega Man gets my vote.

As far as Mega Man goes, my favorite track was always the boss theme from Mega Man 6.
