Public Enemy and NWA?

Really?

Kris P Lettus 10-26-2012 01:54 PM

Both are groundbreaking platinum musical acts..

Why not??

PorkSoda 10-26-2012 01:57 PM

They're not rock.....

Vastardikai 10-26-2012 01:59 PM

Neither is Madonna or Abba. Both are in the Hall.

Vastardikai 10-26-2012 02:03 PM

Bands that are not on this list, eligible for Induction, and DESERVE it.

Pixies
Swans
Black Flag
Melvins
KISS
Weird Al
Bad Brains
Motorhead
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Three Dog Night

DaveBrawl 10-26-2012 02:12 PM

How the hell in KISS not in the HoF yet???

#1-norm-fan 10-26-2012 04:49 PM

Also, though I doubt he'll get in anytime soon, Warren Zevon not being in it is pretty tragic.

Shisen Kopf 10-26-2012 06:03 PM

RIP Warren Zevon....and Vicky Venom

#1-norm-fan 10-26-2012 08:01 PM

RIP 2 every1 ever

weather vane 10-26-2012 11:32 PM

Fuckin Rush

The Condor 10-27-2012 12:47 AM

Maiden and more punk bands like the Pixies and I think the Offspring have reached the point to be considered. As for the current list, give me Public Enemy over NWA.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-27-2012 05:07 AM

Donna Summer was Disco wasn't she? Is this just a Music hall of Fame now? I nominate John Williams.

Kris P Lettus 10-27-2012 10:09 AM

They've always had non "rock" acts.. Sam Cooke was in the first class inducted and he is anything but "rock"..

Dunno why yall are acting like something changed..

Sam Cooke was R&B in a period where R&B was synonymous with rock "for black people." Cooke was, barring anything else, proto-rock, something I doubt you could logistically apply to any act that you're trying to justify being added.

Anyway, I don't particularly care. Look at the eligible foll not in and you understand it's not really an important thing to fuss over. But Sam cooke is a dumb example.

Kris P Lettus 10-27-2012 01:00 PM

Gospel, RnB, and Soul are just as much "rock" as Hip Hop..

If you are gonna eliminate non-rock musical genre's, then you should eliminate them all.. But like every argument you have on here, you are changing FACTS to help your argument, which you don't care about, obv..

Kris P Lettus 10-27-2012 01:02 PM

I guess RnB, Country, Soul, Pop, Jazz, and Disco are considered "rock", in your opinion??

Everything minus Hip Hop, Classical, and Techno??

Kris P Lettus 10-27-2012 01:03 PM

Also, wouldn't Hop Hop be "rock for black people" in this era??

FakeLaser 10-27-2012 04:40 PM

Who cares

mitch_h 10-27-2012 04:46 PM

lol "Hop Hop" is a great typo. They should make their nominations really specific, like Randy Newman circa 1968-1974 + The First Toy Story soundtrack.

Schlomey 10-28-2012 07:14 PM

Rush and randy newman

RP 10-29-2012 09:39 AM

Still no Color Me Bad, still no caring

Pintint 10-29-2012 12:13 PM

Deep Purple should automatically be one of the first inductions.

Kris P Lettus 10-31-2012 09:46 PM

They did invent the three chord rock song..

parkmania 11-01-2012 06:45 PM

I would love for teh Pixies to get in. But no way should Offspring ever get in. They had what 4 good songs total.

Kris P Lettus 11-12-2012 11:53 AM

Pretty Fly For a White Guy

:nono:

Blue Demon 11-12-2012 11:54 AM

RUSH better get in!

The Condor 11-12-2012 05:16 PM

Nah, the Offspring have been good for 20+ years. The singles are the ones that make money, hence the worst but most commercially accessible. "White Guy," "Original Prankster," "Get a Job" etc.. are how people get into them and then find the rest of their catalog is different and definitely worthy of discussion. They are a pre-eminent punk band.

LOL

Offspring have been horrible since their second album. And aren't a punk band, haven't been a punk band since their second album.

DrA 11-14-2012 03:18 AM

A lot changed after the second album.

Yeah they went to shit. Not that they were that great before then. They were your normal 90s era pop punk band. That then became a crappy pop band.
They were the Sum 41 or Blink 182 of the mid 90s.

Vastardikai 12-11-2012 07:44 PM
