Just before DiBiase returned, I thought it might be interesting if they went "darker" with him. Not necessarily turn him heel, but have him shown in a series of vignettes where he says that being hurt made him realise that money was not everything, and that no one missed the parties. Show him spending time in the mountains, discovering what really matters to him.

Bring him back as a more aggressive and justice-seeking babyface. Sort of like a Bruce Wayne-type without the mask.
