Words/Phrases you'd never say if you weren't a wrestling fan

"acumen" Quickness, accuracy, and keenness of judgment or insight.

Vince McMahon - "Well this up and comming Superstar certainly has the wrestling acumen to rise to the top here in the World Wrestling Federation"

.................................................................................................... ....

Is it true that as a young child Vince McMahon and Jim Ross taught me longer words than my elementary school teachers did? Yes!

List here wrestling terms or words used that you'd never have known/used otherwise.

The Condor 10-27-2012 04:36 PM

Fakkin' Bollshiiiitt by the Iron Sheik. Came in handy when my Yankees sucked in the post-season.

Anybody Thrilla 10-27-2012 04:45 PM

When somebody ignores something, I call it a "no-sell".

Corporate CockSnogger 10-27-2012 04:46 PM

Testicular fortitude. For example:

"Fragile X lacks testicular fortitude, and therefore punches women"

FourFifty 10-27-2012 04:50 PM

Platitude- picked it up from a Jericho promo
Mark- in reference to any sort of idiot that buys into marketing
Cornucopia of Confection- Goldust used it in a promo once

Nicky Fives 10-27-2012 05:13 PM

beat him like a government mule, slobberknocker, external occipital protuberance, anything Damien Sandow says.....

ron the dial 10-27-2012 05:18 PM

jobber, mark, jabroni, no sell, pop, heat, i'm sure there are many more

ron the dial 10-27-2012 05:19 PM

Just the phrase that everyone thinks when The Rock has a mic

ron the dial 10-27-2012 05:58 PM

ron the dial 10-27-2012 06:00 PM

Know your role and shut your mouth.

drave 10-27-2012 08:03 PM

Solar plexus, slobber knocker, testicular fortitude, and a more recent gem from Sandow:

My beard is geometric perfection!

Mike the Metal Ed 10-27-2012 08:49 PM

I have to force myself to stop mid-sentence when I'm talking to someone who doesn't know what "mark(ing/ed) out" means.

dronepool 10-27-2012 09:04 PM

I don't use any wrestling terms outside of talking about it with someone who watches it or whatever.

Tom Guycott 10-27-2012 11:44 PM

I use the term "put over" more than I have any right to.

The Condor 10-28-2012 12:02 AM

Machismo.

Shadrick 10-28-2012 05:35 AM

I say "mark" "over" and "popped" occasionally. Also, I refer to myself as a heel/tweener depending on the day.

You never learned a word longer than 3 syllables in elementary??

St. Jimmy 10-28-2012 09:49 AM

I often refer to something fake or bullshit as a Work; or in cases of speaking honestly with someone I say I "shoot" with them.

St. Jimmy 10-28-2012 09:50 AM

Also refer to Drugs as "gimmicks"

Jordan 10-28-2012 09:56 AM

I as well say the following in normal speech...

Gig
Work
Put over
Sell, sold
Color
Push
Turned
4 life
Bannanas! (New, vintage)

Sixx 10-28-2012 10:12 AM

Heel when describing a villain.

Joesgonnakillyou 10-28-2012 08:04 PM

I've taken to using 'vintage' like Cole.

XL 10-28-2012 08:27 PM

Nonchalant.

KyleEmmott 10-28-2012 09:14 PM

glanville6 10-28-2012 11:48 PM

Really? As a question.

voncouch 10-29-2012 12:51 AM

I'm an actor, so I use the words "mark", "kayfabe", "gate" and "marked out" more than you'd expect

If you're an actor I would expect you to use / hear the words "mark" and "gate" quite a bit because they are also acting terms, albeit with completely different meanings.

Juan 10-29-2012 01:14 PM

What does "gate" mean in acting? I didn't think "gate" was that uncommon of a word for saying money made off ticket sales/attendance.
