IPPV

IPPV's seem to be the way that most indy companies are going in the future.

The group I work with is trying one in January.

What do you guys think makes them work/hinders people from taking a chance on a promotion's offering?

whiteyford 12-06-2012 04:00 PM

My broadband isn't fast enough so streaming is a bitch. It's had mixed results from what I've read though, ROH had issues in the past with theirs, so that's a bit off putting as well.

mhirn3 12-06-2012 04:17 PM

What is a fair price to pay for watching an event on your computer? I know it's different how everyone has their stuff set up and ease of watching it because of that.

Also, I always wondered how willing people are to take a chance with 5-10 bucks and watch a new promotion they might not've seen before? I know I sometimes take chances like that but I might be different.

Lock Jaw 12-06-2012 07:06 PM

Where is your group based out of?

Also, ROH's issues mainly came from too much demand and not enough bandwidth on their servers. They upgraded, and their last iPPV was rock solid.

I imagine smaller companies would not get quite he demand that ROH gets, so they probably actually have a better chance of being a solid stream. Given that the production team knows what they are doing.

Blitz 12-06-2012 07:11 PM

It's a solid idea, even if it's not working perfectly all the time yet. Just ordered my first one last weekend (Chikara's season finale), and it worked pretty great.

We're based out of Lima, Ohio.

We are shooting it beforehand as a live event(which we do for our dvd's anyways) and feeding it to them as a later broadcast, so hopefully that will smooth out a lot of the issues ROH has had in the past.

That anything other than the WWE is pure indie vanilla midget garbage.

Say what now?

Bad News Gertner 12-11-2012 03:15 AM

Parsons Championship Wrestling has a pretty sweet trampoline. I doubt yours can compete with that.

owenbrown 12-11-2012 03:40 AM

but 90's scrambled porn has better video quality than Parsons Championship Wrestling

 That's a good one. Well, mhirn3 I got the same questions I ask the other "wrestlers" on here, who trained you and where did you train out of?

If you had to describe your rasslin fed in the form of a haiku, how would it go?

Now you made me feel bad, Gertner. I work for these indy promotions with professional rings against guys who are trained and know what they're doing. I guess I'll never know the pride of wrestling on a trampoline against such self trained greats as Fluffy or the Grim Sweeper :'(

Shisen Kopf 12-11-2012 02:22 PM

Parsons rasslin fed should hire Krispy as their guy to do the lighting. Then he can post photos with the grim sweeper.

I never said I was a wrestler nor trained.

I'm just the Announcer for the shows, we do have a wrestling school started by Al Snow here in Lima however.

mhirn3 12-23-2012 03:20 AM

Just saw this and wanted to gauge public opinion, any thoughts on the claim by CZW that they got over 1,000 orders of their latest IPPV?

Shisen Kopf 12-23-2012 03:38 AM

Where can i stream this ippv? I don't pay for the wwe let alone this nonsense.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-23-2012 06:55 AM

Even WWE.com's stream has connection/lag problems. I can only imagine what kind of mess going into the indy scene would be.

Honestly I have no idea. It's all being done after the fact.

Damon, I'm a little leery about all of it too, thus the original point of the questions I was posing to you guys.

I have respect for most of your knowledges on the topic that's why I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and see what I could find out.

SNLfunnyguy 12-28-2012 01:09 PM

I remember trying to watch King of the Death match trailer on Violent J's site back in the late 90's. Painful.

James Steele 12-28-2012 01:46 PM

Didn't ECW do some online ppv back in the day? How the fuck would that work back in the day with 56K? (LOL IT RHYMED)

It was Cyberslam in 1996, but here's what I found about the start of it:

Quote:

It began in 1995 with the Double Tables event, held at the ECW Arena. The event was held for those who were posting on Usenet's rec.sport.pro-wrestling to be able to meet performers in person and see some live pro wrestling.

mhirn3 01-21-2013 01:33 AM

Not sure if any of you guys would be interested in how this turned out but hey what the hell right?

Show will be put on IPPV on Feb 16th and be available for 9.95 for just the stream, 19.95 for the stream and a dvd of the show, and 29.95 for the stream, dvd and an event t-shirt.

Show includes a War Games 2 cage 2 ring match, a ko/submission match and the last match ever of a former WWE tag team who started their career in our ring.

Thanks.

Bad News Gertner 01-21-2013 03:42 AM

Question. Is Bobby Jaggers rassling at your event. I heard he's kind off tough to book.

itsmeJD 01-21-2013 04:06 AM

I got some friends in OCW that may wanna do an invasion angle if you're interested.

mhirn3 01-21-2013 02:25 PM

Which OCW guys? A bunch of them already populate our roster as they are our sister promotion.

Jimmy "The Snake" Roberts is enough to make anyone become an avid indy viewer.

CSL 02-12-2013 02:26 PM

Mike the Metal Ed 02-12-2013 02:33 PM
