Albums you are looking forward to in 2013
 

I seem to do this thread every year, so why stop now?

At the moment there are only three albums I know of from acts I like that are releasing records in 2013:

Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob
The singles that I have heard so far have been decent; I expect the record will be a grower.

Tomahawk - Oddfellows
Mike Patton. Enough said.

Frontier Ruckus - Eternity of Dimming
Folkie goodness.


As always there is the expectation that TOOL or APC will produce something as there have been rumbles the past couple of years, but MJK seems more interested in his vinyard these days.

It has been awhile since Jenny Lewis released anything so hopefully she will produce something this year.

Dream Theater should be going back into the studio in January so I'm looking forward to what they come up with. It'll be their first album with Mike Mangini actually contributing towards the songwriting so should be interesting.

I also believe that Arjen Lucassen is crafting a new Ayreon album which should be dropping next year. I'm a big Ayreon fan so seeing where the story goes will be great, it's a bit cheesy but that's part of the fun.

Two more which I'm looking forward to, the follow up to Afterman: Ascension from Coheed & Cambria.

And of course Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing and other Stories is one I'm really looking forward to, Steven Wilson = genius.

I am looking forward to getting No Jacket Required by Phil Collins from my local library. Expected return date is 1/3/13. Phil Collins is awesome.

Sanctuary - The Day The Sun Died.

No news on the album yet, except that Warrel Dane (ex Nevermore), said that it will come out sometime in 201x, so most likely next year since he announced it a year ago or so.

Really looking forward to it, Nevermore is like my favorite band ever and both of Sanctuary's previous releases were amazing.

Not really sure what's coming out next year. Didn't even know Tomahawk had one on the way. First single seems good though.

Almost forgot, Neko Case has a new album out in 2013. I always look forward to her work.

Nothing really standing out in the world of EDM. 2012 had SO much greatness come out with releases from Deadmau5, Dash Berlin, Ferry Corsten and Kaskade. Really wish Paul Van Dyk and Above & Beyond would release a studio album soon. Just please for the love of God no more David Guetta.
