Their first show on Spike Bellator 85 is Jan 17..

I have never watched a full Bellator show, cause I don;t have MTV 2 but I know it's tourney style.. This is the beginning of season 8.. I know alot of their fighters (even on this card) but don't really know much about it..

I am looking forward to their Spike shows though and hope the company does well..

Oddly Enough Zuffa has nothing bad to say about them. Lorenzo Fertita seems content to let them be.

After taking over WEC and Pride FC, Elite XC, Bodog Fights, and IFL all folded on their own and I think Dana White appreciates having some competition outside of Japan..

Also, it gives guys who "fizzle out" in the UFC a chance at redemption, which can only help out UFC in the long run.. They can just do what WCW did to ECW and take any talent they want..

I don't think it's about Dana appreciating the competition as much as it is him just not giving a fuck about them.

Strikeforce at least had an appealing roster with the likes of Overeem, Diaz, Barnett, Shields, Mendez, Fedor, Carano, Cung Le, Frank Shamrock, etc and Dana took his fair share of pot shots at the organization... partly because of how talent rich the organization was in my opinion. If Scott Coker had more of a backbone and made premier fights like Fedor/Overeem instead of allowing fighters to come and go as they please and dictate when/if they fought, Strikeforce probably would have emerged as the WCW to the UFC's WWE.

I'm pretty sure Arianny Celeste is more famous and recognizable than anyone on that Bellator roster and would probably draw a better rating sitting in her bathing suit. Maybe the move to Spike TV will help raise their profile, but until then, I don't think he gives two squirts of piss about Bellator.

In its fourth week on Spike, Bellator looks to have leveled out in the range of what it should expect to do from this point forward.

Thursday night's show, headlined by the Alexander Shlemenko vs. Maiquel Falcao match for the vacant middleweight title, did a 0.64 rating and 807,000 viewers. The viewership was up 14 percent from the previous week's 705,000.

The show did a 0.7 rating in Males 18-49, the best of the four episodes to date.

The positives about the number is it was drawn with a Brazilian against a Siberian in the main event, and of the five televised matches, only one featured an American fighter. While Shlemenko has been one of Bellator's top fighters since his arrival in 2010, he was never one of the key fighters promoted due to his only basic understanding of English. Perhaps most important, Bellator's number increased even though its lead-in, TNA Wrestling, dropped 11 percent to 1,412,000 viewers which was closer to that show's normal range after being above average for three weeks.

However, the Bellator replay dropped from 17 percent from 323,000 viewers the prior week to 268,000 viewers on Thursday.

After a month in, a show that may start out strong with first show publicity is usually at around its normalized level. Bellator is probably going to be in the 675,000 to 825,000 viewer level consistently on Spike, close to five times the viewers it previously had on MTV2.

UFC needs another organisation to be relevant cause they can feed UFC younger new fighters.. It also seems like Bellator has a deep international outreach specially in Russia and Brazil.. Also, it's a good spot for UFC fighters in slumps to go a la Nate Marquart.. Bellator gets a named fighter while that fighter has a shot to make it back to UFC..

It should work out nicely..
