Live action, shot-for-shot recreation of Toy Story
This is legit and full-length. I watched bits and pieces and they did a phenomenal job here, especially on the smaller details. Apparently they went and got approval from Pixar to release it to the public this past week.

Dammit I just posted this in the 100,000 replies thread in the casual forum, and then I come and check the movies/tv forum and you have already posted it. Curses, foiled again!
But yeah, I watched bits and pieces and it is pretty insane. |
Half way through. Very cool.

somebody posted this on FB earlier. Can't help but think "why?"

Had no idea Joss Whedon wrote Toy Story.

The shot-for-shot love plus attention to detail (such as the pot wallpaper or actually making Sid's misfit toys) combined with second Doctor levels of cheap camera tricks and unapologetic, blatant puppeteering with cords and pipecleaners (which makes me wonder in all seriousness exactly WHAT their budget was, and how long it took them to shoot/edit this... it's cheap, but even "cheap" by film terms is expensive by out-of-pocket budgeting- see "Clerks") makes this one of the greatest things I've seen in the history of the internet!
Seriously, it's up there with that kid who made the cardboard arcade. |

That's truly impressive. That is BEYOND shoestring budget (possible puppeteering joke unintentional but applicable) That was done out of love, and I'm glad Pixar didn't poo-poo on this as so many other companies do with any fan-film anything that emerges.
It's good to see some encouragement for this kind of thing as opoosed to being quick to lawyer up and jump out with a Cease-And-Decist order. |
