When I heard this tune from Rufio, I swore it was a cover or I had heard it before.

What about ya guys?

I reckon it's due to every musical phrase being done at some point, or at least every musical phrase distinguishable from random noise.

And some musical phrases will overlap, let's say a bar of the vocal melody from one song is identical to a bar from another but the rest is different. Then we find the same "identical bars from different songs" situation in the guitar, keyboard, etc. not to mention the bass guitar has only four strings, thereby causing greater likelihood we'll hear the same bass chord progressions from song to song.
