The Shield

Now 3-0 in a big time six man tags in WWE, and very impressive in each outing so far. It's true what JBL and Cole were saying about The Shield at The Elimination Chamber. Their teamwork was ridiculous and the way that the three of them gel in the ring is unlike anything we've seen in a long time.

The stand out is Dean Ambrose... I really think we have the next guy here. His movements in the ring are in the relm of Shawn M5ichales, Randy Orton and Ricky Steamboat. Plus seems as if he is getting larger and larger, which is only a good thing. As well as his in ring work his mic work is nothing but top notch, he is surely going to have a lot of main events in his future.

Seth Rollins is one of the top performers WWE has signed in the last 5 or 6 years and continues to surprise and impress. As he gets more exposure on the mic, he seems to surpass my expectations segment by segment. He also seems to be the glue that holds Shield strong in the ring. Taking ridiculous bumps and using his athleticism to make Dolph Ziggler jealous. I don't predict as many main events for Seth as Dean, but I could be wrong on that.

The jury is still out on Roman Reigns as far as I'm concerned. When used sparingly he is absolutely a legit threat to anyone, especially when the other two wolves are lurking around. And while he had some great moments in the six man at Elimination Chamber, there was a lull during his 5 or so minute showdown with Cena. He seems to have the basics that WWE workers used in the 80's but hasn't figured out anything special beyond his awesome spear, which was a great finish at the PPV and really awesome when he killed Sheamus.

I think a strong choice for Wrestlemania would be to involve The Shield in a Tag Team Title match. They have many options. The could do Team Hell No vs Sheamus and Ryback with the story that both teams could implode at any time.

They could also have a four way elimination match with Team Hell No vs The Shield vs Ryback and Sheamus vs The Rhodes Scholars

Though personally I would be down for a tag team turmoil to get some other guys on the card in addition to the four above.

I still don't understand why they were never paired-up with Heyman and Punk, they (The Shield) would've benefited greatly.

I still feel they need a manager. JBL would be tremendous.

CSL 02-19-2013 03:11 PM

don't think they need a manager at all, especially with Ambrose in the group. They're doing just fine on their own, better than just fine even. Speaking of Ambrose, guy could probably have a job for life there even if being an in-ring performer doesn't work out given the rest of his "skill set"

Jordan 02-19-2013 03:11 PM

They were paired up with Heyman and Punk, they hired them out to keep the title on Punk.

Also they have a great trio thing happening on the mic, a "leader" would make them seem weaker to me. The three of them are constantly working in synchronicity, adding a fourth who does all the thinking/talking would take away from what is going to allow Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to be big stars.

XL 02-19-2013 03:12 PM

I made a suggestion for a Tag Team Turmoil Match elsewhere on the boards but omitted The Shield because going for the Tag belts at this point seems like a massive step down from mixing it up with WWE's Main Eventers.

Pretty sure we'll see something involving The Shield and Ryback at Mania.

Jordan 02-19-2013 03:14 PM

What do you think the best use of The Shield is at Wrestlemania?

I really liked the tension between Sheamus and Ryback, but I'm not sure I'd pull the trigger on that match so quick. Having Sheamus and Ryback team up against The Shield 2 on 3 is interesting but we had that match add Cena and Jericho already.

I'd almost bet money on Reigns being the guy that gets "the shove" first unless Ambrose or Rollins really catches fire. Feel like Rollins will be the "biggest star" long term but Reigns is tailor-made for WWE aka he's fucking jacked

IDK. Sometimes they look a little "lost" when they're on the mic.

It may just be me.

XL 02-19-2013 03:15 PM

Yeah, we definitely don't need for there to be someone behind The Shield/for them to have a manager, it would dilute the impact they've had thus far.

I can imagine Reigns yelling at his smartphone when he tweets.

Keith 02-19-2013 03:17 PM

LOL he should type everything in CAPITAL LETTERS.

"BELIVE IN THE SHIELD!"

Hard to think that he's Rosey's brother.

Heisenberg 02-19-2013 03:20 PM

I enjoy their use of tables and powerbombs. The simple things in life

Jordan 02-19-2013 03:21 PM

What is the most interesting story than can get out of Ryback and The Shield at Wrestlemania? Obviously Ryback has to prevail, but who does he align himself with?
We can get a 1 on 3, they've already beat him twice or more with two partners.

Keith 02-19-2013 03:23 PM

Maybe Ryback teams up with Undertaker to take on The Shield at 'Mania, who knows lol.

Jordan 02-19-2013 03:26 PM

I would accept that.

Jordan 02-19-2013 03:27 PM

Maybe Undertaker comes to Raw about to cut a promo and gets cut off before speaking by The Shield, beat down insues. Ryback talks to Vicky, boom. Match made.

I was just joking, but by golly, it kinda makes sense.

mike adamle 02-19-2013 03:28 PM

Probably just gonna have The Shield vs. Ryback, Jericho, and Sheamus in some sort of gimmick match at WrestleMania. Or go the tag title route. But I'm absolutely loving the Shield, they were awesome at Elimination Chamber.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-19-2013 03:39 PM

Got a bit of a man crush on Roman Reigns. The guy's so cool.

The Show Off 02-19-2013 03:40 PM

What I've been thinking about for a while now is... Brock Lesnar & The Shield vs. Ryback, Shemus, Chris Jericho & Triple H in War games. Brock Lesnar and The Shield would not be officially aligned but working together under Paul Heyman.

Cuse8 02-19-2013 04:05 PM

i would have bet a lot last night that jericho was turning heel and aligning with the shield

ClockShot 02-19-2013 04:44 PM

Trying to picture some cool entrance at Wrestlemania if they get that far.

Really want a helicopter to fly in and they repel down to the stage. But after Owen, that seems totally unlikely. Or they come in with a SWAT truck with like 10 guys in full gear.

Really digging them so far. Still think they need some police sirens included in their theme.

Anybody Thrilla 02-19-2013 05:14 PM

I kept yelling "BELIEVE IN THE SHIELD!" at B-Dubs during Elimination Chamber. It's a miracle I was not ejected. #daydrinking

Skippord 02-19-2013 06:40 PM

DAMN iNATOR would not approve of that uncouth behavior at the BWW

drave 02-19-2013 06:41 PM

LOVE The Shield. From their first (WWE)PPV match at TLC they have been solid through and through. I agree that Reigns is still....... meh, but he will hopefully learn all he can and evolve on the fly.

I definitely like Ambrose. His work with Foley "shooting" at various appearances and everything was awesome. Not sure about Rollins yet.

As a collective, they are my favorite stable since the Ministry of Darkness.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-19-2013 06:50 PM

Anyone who doesn't like Roman Reigns isn't comfortable enough in their foreskin to say they have a man crush on him.

Lock Jaw 02-19-2013 06:54 PM

Every time I see their vests with all their pouches, though, it makes me think of comic books in the 90s.

Skippord 02-19-2013 07:03 PM

Roman Reigns is quite handsome, and seems just vulnerable enough to make you think you can change him.

Lock Jaw 02-19-2013 07:09 PM

Ref should totally demand to inspect each and every pouch for foreign objects.

I love Roman Reigns. He's my favourite of the three.

The man is a beast.

That would be awesome.

Vastardikai 02-19-2013 08:59 PM

What I've noticed from the Shield isn't so much who will break out from the group, it's more of a question of who WON'T. All of these guys have something to offer.

Keith 02-19-2013 09:41 PM

Rollins and Ambrose should be tag team champions at some point.

But hopefully WWE will keep the three of them together for a good while.

Rammsteinmad 02-20-2013 07:53 AM

I totally see the whole Shield thing fizzling out like every carnation of the NWO and the Nexus etc. Everyone will whinge about how it started great and then went downhill and how "they should have split up ages ago" etc.

Rammsteinmad 02-20-2013 07:54 AM

With that said though, Ryback & Undertaker vs The Shield would definitely be great. Undertaker would really be the "ultimate partner" for Ryback to take on the Shield, and in all fairness, they're the only thing going right now that could be a potential threat to the streak anyway.

Keith 02-20-2013 09:00 AM

When the time comes for The Shield to break-up, we'll probably see Rollins and Ambrose attacking Reigns, thrusting him into singles action.

Anybody Thrilla 02-20-2013 11:06 AM

It's kinda funny that we're talking about The Shield breaking up when they've only had three matches.

Keith 02-20-2013 11:16 AM

Nexus broke our hearts. We believed in them, and they broke up fairly quickly. So we don't believe in anyone anymore!

CSL 02-20-2013 11:17 AM

Dean Ambrose is my lord and saviour
