Tomb Raider's Trendy Reboot
Hey, the reviews are coming in and it's not... bad. Very positive all around, although some reviews like the Eurogamer and Gametrailers one seem very negative, then just slap an 8 on it. It's tempting me to pick up the PC version.
But the deaths. Jesus, I saw this gif and just was not expecting this. Not sure if it's that brutal throughout. http://i.minus.com/iU60u4mlSwv6Y.gif Anyone else looking at this? Multiplayer is mediocre and tacked on from what I'm hearing, but the single player more than makes up for it. |
it's pretty high on my list of things to buy this year. i loved a lot of the original franchise, and the early crystal dynamics games, so kinda looking forward to seeing how this one turns out and if it successfully reinvigorates the series.
|
I tried to play one of the TR games on PS1. The one that starts in her mansion with some butler following you around.
I just didn't like it so I'll be skipping this. The death is brutal and I can't say I like it. I think it's because it's Lara, a character that, for all her overly sexualised appeal, was a strong character. So seeing her impaled and hopelessly clawing to get free is a bit unsettling. Even if she is completely fictional. If it was a random GTA ped or one of the MK guys, I'd probably have found it cool. |
Drakul you're being unreasonable here.

Yeah there's actually a history of hilariously brutal deaths in the series.
|
This has my interest, but I'm still probably holding off for a lower price point.
|
It's a great game, and yes, the environmental deaths are all that brutal.

Again, if it was Scorpion or Sonya that was struggling to get off a spike I'd probably be ok with it because that's the kind of thing I go into games like MK expecting to see. |
Well don't die. Take your discomfort as incentive to live.
|
This all looks very Uncharted to me, moreso than the original run, so I'll probably get it or borrow it for a play through at some point.

Never really liked Tomb Raider that much at all, I'll just finish Uncharted 2 or something.
|
Only ever played Tomb Raider Legend, the T-Rex in the original scared the shit out of me when playing the demo back in the day.
|
This was on my upcoming game cue but I wanna try completing FOC before I buy it plus I also have the God of War Collection I've yet to play. Never really played much aside from a couple of demos from this franchise yet I didn't get into it despite liking platform adventure games. Must admit the rebooted Lara seems a lot more badass the her previous incarnation but I'm not sure the graphic death scenes were all that necessary.
|
What is wrong with you people?
'The graphic death scenes in my VIDEO GAME aren't all that necessary" ffs |
The Uncharted series borrowed from Tomb Raider in the first place. The first time I played Uncharted, it reminded me alot of Tomb Raider so I enjoyed it immensely.
Unfortunately, I do have to wait a bit before I can grab Tomb Raider because I just got Far Cry 3. :( |
halfway through playing this game... The voice acting may be not much but still, you can also melee sneak attack from behind much like Assassin's Creed too with your hook. There's even side tombs as an extra XP stuff to explore and puzzles but I didn't get to finish it.. So, it really gets an overdose adrenaline when you're falling off the river or the flaming temple platforms, I still agree with Conan O Brien's review of it.
ANd I didn't get the part where she gets impaled in the river.. All I had to do was use a shotgun to blast the debris and spikes that are blocking you while sliding all the way down. |
some store broke street date here on friday so all the other vendors released it over the weekend. picked it up yesterday. i really like it. easily the best game in the series, and a long-overdue reboot to everything. 9/10 would recommend

I loved the Tomb Raider games back in the day, they were atmospheric and a bit scary and seemed to take ages to finish. |
To me, Lara Croft is the Indiana Jones of the gameworld minus the bullwhip. :p

It's early in development but for those who've played it already is there any known or unknown actress out there you'd like to see in this role? |
Melissa Joan Hart
|
An unknown British chick.
|
Hollywood Hasney
|
JENNIFER LAWRENCE

Ten years ago Kiera Nightily(SP) would have been great.
|
Her breasts are about 7% of the required size to play Lara.
|
Maybe past Lara.
|
Or current Lara.
http://canadianonlinegamers.com/wp-c...t-240x225.jpeg OK, maybe not 7%, but still like 25%. |

She has split hairs too, Miotch!

Rose Byrne has the look and is British, but I would probably have a hard time believing her in the role.
|
Rose Byrne is most definitely not British.
|
Oh wait, Australian. My mistake.

Upcoming Caves and Cliffs DLC pack will be a timed Xbox 360 exclusive and arrives on March 19 for 400 MS Points ($5). No date was given for when the DLC will arrive on other platforms.

According to people who've played the PC version, the new hair physics engine ends up being a bigger hassle than its worth even on high end PCs (Ultra settings). By turning it off, the framerate and performance ends up improving by a good 200% to 300% (30-35 FPS to 70+ FPS). |
