Mid carders who were crazy over
Hacksaw Jim Duggan came to mind. During his reign as King Hacsaw you could argue he was the second most over babyface in the WWF.
Watching some old videos on youtube and I completely forgot how friggen over The Oddities were, especially when ICP were with them. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZdH-Tx-5lNo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mud4CJhhYCg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Unbelievable. |
Wasn't Hacksaw always over in WCW?
|
He was, but not to the level as he was in the WWF. Gonna go find a tag match he was in against Andre the Giant. Crowd was crazy for him.
|
This isn't the match, but christ was he ever over

Godfather
|
Godfather was ridiculously over.
|
Hate ICP's music, but gotta admit the Oddities theme was awesome. Loved their entrance. Shitty in the ring but crowd loved them.
|
|
The New Age Outlaws.
Actually pretty much any face midcarder from the attitude era was over by today's standards. |
Fuck, those videos even make me miss The Oddities just for the crowd response.
Not a bad promo by Violent J in that second video either. |
Al Snow.

Rey Mysterio for a long time...

Kofi is rather over. |
Wrath was pretty over in WCW

Norman Smiley

Disco Inferno

The 1-2-3 Kid was very over as a babyface in the early 90s.
|
Definitely Vader in late '96 or '97. He got some insane face pops at that time
|
Goldust, British Bulldog and Owen Hart come to mind.
|
Zack Ryder was pretty over last year. Is Fandango considered a mid carder?
|
Jake the Snake Roberts was a Mid Carder back in the day was pretty over. Steamboat in WWE was a midcarder over as heck around WM 3.
|
You really can make a point that every performer during the attitude era was crazy over compared to now days, except for Mark Henry who is over more now than back then.
In WCW, DDP before DDP cracked the main event scene. |
RVD.
Almost from the moment he arrived in the WWF till his big push in mid-2006 against Cena. |

Upper-midcard maybe. But midcard, yes. |
Ken Shamrock
|
Buff Bagwell back in WCW was really over.
That's the best I can contribute to this thread. :p |
Dean Malenko in the feud vs Jericho.
|
Sure M.I.A got huge pops when they were against Team Canada too.
|
Buff Bagwell ws probably the biggest missed opportunity to create a main event guy that WCW had. Why he came back as a heel after he broke his neck is beyond me

Jericho, yes.
|
Is it safe to Rey Mysterio? I consider him high mid card...
|
In an ideal world, Bagwell could have returned from his life threatening injury, get beaten down by the NWO, become a huge sympathetic babyface vowing revenge. He had lots of charisma. I really think if booked right it would have been massive.

Big Bossman is my one contribution. He was over enough in WWF that fans were chanting for him HERE...
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Z59ReE3nGw8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Side note: This match was the worst Sting match on pay per view that did NOT involve an opponent who was shit hammered during the match. |
