Ok, be honest...who used to go nuts for the Warrior when they were younger?

Cause I know I did. He was definatly my favorite wrestler during his first run with the WWF from about 87-91. Would used to go crazy and pump my arms and stuff like hell whenever he came out. I would still rank him winning at Wrestlemania VI as my number one most exited momented as a wrestling fan. I know a lot of other people were behind him too as much as I was.

Now it seems like all anybody does is bash the hell out of the guy and diss his work. Granted, the guy is a complete roided up, over the hill headcase right now, and probably always was an asshole, I still don't see how this changes the fact that he used to be amazing performer (I know, I know, he didn't have good technical matches, but he was pure intensity, and his charector was just the shit), and people generally seem to forget about that now.

So yeah. Go old school Warrior.

ilt_undertaker 12-19-2003 11:15 PM

I did because as a girl i loved to play with pom-poms, and thats what i thought was around his wrestling boots. I did enjoy watching him too though.(Gimmick wise)

Loose Cannon 12-19-2003 11:21 PM

oH HELL YES, I loved the Warrior when I was little. When he beat Hogan at WM 6 for the title I went crazy. But I got to say my favrite Ultimate Warrior moment of all-time was at Wrestlemania 8 during the Hogan-Sid Justice match. I was watching this on PPV and at the end of the macth Papa Shango comes out to attack Hogan along with Justice causing a DQ. Then all of a sudden Warrior's FK'N music hits, and remember he had been gone for a while, and I totally lost it. Then Warrior comes flying down to the ring like a fricken cheeta and helps out Hogan. Man that was awesome.

KayfabeMan 12-19-2003 11:22 PM

I didn't "go nuts" for the Warrior, but I did enjoy seeing him.

I even enjoyed seeing him in WCW,doing the whole OWN/NWO angle.

He (much like Sting - except Sting is a far greater worker) knew how
to work the crowd with minimum effort (not to say that they both did
not work hard,because they did).

Warrior was just a reckless worker, and had no direction in the ring.He
would go full force and work stiff with people, not with the intent to in-
jure, but just because he thought he was "The Warrior"...strange what
the steroids will do to you.

MVP 12-19-2003 11:28 PM

Warrior was the man back in his day. I still mark out to his theme song and watching him run to the ring. Plus he always knew how to draw big pops during matches. Where do you think Goldberg got his mannerisms?

Fox 12-19-2003 11:32 PM

I marked for his squash match against Triple H at WrestleMania. That's about it though.

JeremyTB29 12-19-2003 11:55 PM

Speaking of Warrior coming down in the Hogan/Sid Match.I loved Heenan's comment."It's the warrior,Is he coming down to attack Hogan to".lol.Or something like that.

DaveWadding 12-19-2003 11:58 PM

Yeah, I used to...

Heenan, "It's the Ultimate Warrior"
Monsoon, "It is"
Heenan, "ohhh god"
Heenan, "What is doing, is he going to attack Hogan too."

   One of my favorite couple of lines ever from Heenan.

Jason_Hawk 12-20-2003 12:22 AM

im guilty

Vazz 12-20-2003 01:16 AM

I was the one kid that hated warrior. I was a big hogan fan so I got pissed when he beat hogan. :p

Sickboy 12-20-2003 07:42 AM

Although I didn't follow wrestling then, I had seen his matches with my cousin and Warrior was my favourite, he looked cool and was big... I even had a Warrior toy...

Ricky 12-20-2003 08:24 AM

Yes, but I preferred Hogan and I am telling you, and I have never let this drop, Hogan kicked out at Wrestlemania 6!!

ColdwaVer 12-20-2003 09:59 AM

Meh, depending on who he was up against. I marked out good for his entrance, but after that it was a big yawn. Seeing him up against Rick Rude, Mr Perfect, Demolition, Undertaker, and Savage I was always pulling for him to get his butt kicked.

Dazz 12-20-2003 10:18 AM

I was more of a Tatanka fan, Warrior wasn't all that good IMO.

Oxstar 12-20-2003 01:31 PM

ultimate warrior rules! i still think of the warrior every day! bring him back!

Azriel 12-20-2003 01:40 PM

I marked out like a bitch whenever he was on back in the day.

PoisonIvy 12-20-2003 01:45 PM

Not me. I was a Macho Man fanatic. :shifty:

Kane Knight 12-20-2003 02:03 PM

I was a huge mark, til I started reading about him on ARPAnet, and then I hated him. ;)

SUPREMO 12-20-2003 02:24 PM

Not me

FakeLaser 12-20-2003 03:09 PM

I was always a bigger Hogan fan.

Pegasus Crawford 12-27-2003 06:20 AM

I remember marking out when he ended the Honky Tonk Man's IC title streak. Then when he had his feud with Papa Shango, I was like.. "wtf."

Then he came back in 96, and started talking more... I was like "wtf..."

Then he appeared in WCW... I was like.. "he's totally lost it."

Then I saw a recent photo of him, and I just can't help but laugh:

Anyone remember the events that occurred which made the Warrior leave the WWF in 1992 and 1996?

1991 - Basically he wanted the same money Hulk Hogan was getting even though Hogan was a far bigger draw. Before Summerslam 1991 went on air, he held Vince McMahon to ransom saying he wanted $1 million cash or he wasn't working the show. Vince paid him, he worked and was immediately fired as soon as he came through the certain after the main event.

1992 - WWF was clamping down big time on steroids. Everyone was told to get off them and keep away from anything similar. Davey Boy Smith and Warrior were then caught using HGH and were fired.

1996 - In a nutshell, he no showed 3 house shows for no reason (he claimed his father died but he died suddenly on the night of the third show so he had no reason to miss the other two). He was told if he posted a bond (forget the amount but I think it was like $250,000) then he could come back. He never did.

Confession time - If you watch Summerslam 1992 close enough during the Warriors entrance, you will see a 12 year old Rob Harvey marking out in the second row. I swear it was a one time thing and I haven't done it since :shifty:

Draven 12-27-2003 11:40 AM

Did he really legally change his name 2 the Ultimate Warrior? I still find this hard 2 believe

PoisonIvy 12-27-2003 11:40 PM

Just "Warrior". His wife & kids took it as their last name too.

ilt_undertaker 12-27-2003 11:58 PM

Wife? Kids? Wow.

Corkscrewed 12-28-2003 12:45 AM

Yeah. It's pretty crazy. I used to like Ultimate Warrior before I knew he was insane.

Now... he kinda looks like Lionel Luther.

Innovator 12-28-2003 12:47 AM

Warrior was great, but damn him for beating Macho Man at WM 7
