Abbott was a beast but seriously lacked skills and technique.. He was a brute with KO power in both hands..

He came out at UFC 6 and up until that point, opposed to what people think about the early "no holds barred" cage fighting events, all the UFC combatants had been respectful martial artists who came in to represent their school of discipline.. He would cut promos about fucking people up and how he was just happy to be able to beat people up and not only, not go to jail, but he was getting paid.. SEG knew this and made David Abbott into "Tank Abbott" after the Clint Eastwood movie Any Which Way but Loose, and he is still fighting professionally 17 years later.. With a 10-15 record, he is def not the best, but he made his mark on MMA (and WCW) with brute strength and a "fuck the world" attitude.. |
I used to be a huge Abbott fan in the early days of UFC. Liked Oleg Taktarov too. Fucking hated Royce Gracie and all 1000 people he brought with him.

Yeah, I liked Tank too.. As I said, he was a change of pace for combat sport fans, who were sick of boxing, but didn't understand grappling..
