Rank The Nexus

Including the guys that joined the New Nexus, and excluding Cena and Punk, how would you rank the careers of the members of the Nexus/New Nexus?

Wade Barrett
Skip Sheffield
Daniel Bryan
Heath Slater
David Otunga
Michael Tarver
Justin Gabriel
Darren Young
Mason Ryan
Husky Harris
Michael McGillicutty

Ultra Mantis 05-12-2013 07:29 PM

1. Daniel Bryan
2. Wade Barrett
3. Skip Ryback
4. Heath Slater
5. David Otunga
6. Justin Gabriel
7. Darren Young
8. Michael McGillicutty
9. Husky Harris
10. Michael Tarver
11. Mason Ryan

Pretty huge gulf between the top three guys and the rest of them, of which Heath Slater has been the most consistant jobber. When Husky is called up as Bray Wyatt he's easily going to take #4.

If we're judging their careers so far and not just our personal opinion of them, Michael Tarver has to be last.

In fact, I'd probably go with Ultra Mantis' list except switch Ryan and Tarver.

Ultra Mantis 05-12-2013 08:17 PM

Only reason I have Ryan last is because I don't remember him actually doing anything other than kicking CM Punk in the face and losing a tag title match.

loopydate 05-12-2013 08:41 PM

1) Daniel Bryan - former World Champion
2) Skip Sheffield - most legitimate "new main eventer" in years
3) Wade Barrett - multiple-time mid card champion
4) Heath Slater - getting consistent work, mic time, and his own stable
5) David Otunga - used consistently, got the WWE Films treatment
6) Darren Young - again, consistent use, and a constant tag title threat
7) Justin Gabriel - the "face" of Saturday Morning Slam, former tag champion
8) Husky Harris - looked good despite being underused, will be huge with new gimmick
9) Michael Tarver - should have been something, wasn't
10) Mason Ryan - if a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, did Ryan turn face?
11) Michael McGillicutty - lost a lot, moved to Saturday morning, still loses a lot

John Cena was the best nexus member then punk. Why exclude them?

Emperor Smeat 05-12-2013 10:13 PM

1. Daniel Bryan
2. Skip Sheffield - Has the big push/pushes Barrett is lacking. Pre-Ryback would be a lot lower on the list.
3. Wade Barrett - Has more title reigns than Skip but lacking the really big push.
4. Heath Slater - Biggest achievement so far has been 3MB and the stuff with the Legends.
5. Darren Young
6. David Otunga
7. Husky Harris
8. Justin Gabriel
9. Michael McGillicutty
10. Mason Ryan
11. Michael Tarver - Only guy to have been fired so far.

Wishbone 05-12-2013 11:24 PM

1) Daniel Bryan - Dude's involved in one of the biggest storylines the company's done in years and holding his own in it. Not to mention he's a former world champion.

2) Skip "Ryback" Sheffield - Hard to argue with a guy who's gone from "Yep yep yep, what it do?" to being one of the most over guys in the company. Once he wins a WWE title (so long as it's not a quick transitional thing) he'll probably surpass Bryan for number one.

3) Wade Barrett - He's a multiple time Intercontinental Champion already, which is more than many guys will ever be able to say.

4) Heath Slater - Despite being a jobber he's at the very least "King of the Jobbers" so that's gotta count for something right?

5) David Otunga - Even though he hasn't been on TV in a while he's still doing a lot of PR work for WWE and management seems to think there's something there. He also got to be in a movie with Halle Berry even if it was just a small roll.

6) Darren Young - He was on the fast track to having a legit career with Prime Time Players, but now he's just back to being a background character that's not worth a damn.

7) Justin Gabriel - He might be getting murdered at house shows on a regular basis, but at least he's on the main roster still.

8) Husky Harris - Heard good things about his character in FCW, but until he gets called up he's still just a big fish in a small pond.

9) Mason Ryan - Simply because he's young and WWE will probably see lots of uses for him if he ever learns more than 2 moves.

10) Michael McGillicutty - Seems like WWE's just given up on him completely. Honestly if not for his family ties he'd probably be future endeavored by now.

11) Michael Tarver - Being unemployed means your career is over so...

Bad News Gertner 05-12-2013 11:34 PM

1. Heath Slater
2. Everybody else

Shisen Kopf 05-12-2013 11:37 PM

If he was THE RYBACK in nexus it would be him. He's beaten ginger spice like 355 times. Plus I think Slater might be Jewish. Look,at that nose. :nono:

Savio 05-13-2013 12:41 AM

Could this be the break up of Team Gorm?

Shisen Kopf 05-13-2013 12:43 AM

Gorm Wolfpac and Gorm USA #1 factions.

Shisen Kopf 05-13-2013 12:44 AM

There will never be a Team Gorm Japan b/c they don't count.

Savio 05-13-2013 12:51 AM

Would have to ask Penner to start that.

owenbrown 05-13-2013 12:54 AM

which one of you is B-team Gorm

A bit misguided, but valid point about excluding Cena and Punk. I mean, if you're including the sum of the 'New Nexus'... hell, you might as well even include CORRE, since you'd only be adding in Eziekel Jackson to that list.

It's also funny how Danielson is being ranked #1 for being a former world champion. Remember how much people were talking about how much he sucked back then, (vanilla midget/indy nobody/"will never make it") and that Barrett was the be-all, end-all because he was tall and has a booming voice and could promo better than pretty much everyone else there? And that The-Artist-Currently-Known-as-THE-RYBACK and Justin Gabriel rounded out the "big three" of the group because they made a lariat and 450 respectively seem menacing? Everyone else just kinda stood around, except DB, who was "fired" because Justin Roberts was so damned good at selling being strangled that it allegedly worried advertisers and potential political backers, and subsequently wasn't even part of the group anymore.

Now everyone is talking about how much they love Slater. I remember even having the "ginger ninja" on some of your TVs was visually offensive. Boy how times have changed.

Hell, I'm even guilty of bagging on Otunga. Mostly because he was horrible IN EVERY WAY. Eventually he grew on me, with the coffee sipping and bowties and car-chasing suckup gimmick. Now I miss that guy.

Ultra Mantis 05-13-2013 10:05 AM

If this was a list based on favourites, Slater would be nowhere near #4.

Vastardikai 05-13-2013 11:12 AM

Also, we learn that being unemployed is better than being Michael McGuillicutty.

XL 05-13-2013 02:32 PM

I excluded Punk/Cena as they were established guys before the debut of Nexus. All the other guys debuted at the same time or where complete unknowns before joining the group.

Plus, it's a given that they'd be #1 and #2.
